An a-typical cut and post from my email, but it was powerful so I felt compelled. Read the whole thing.

====================

Some powerful thoughts to reflect and to ponder over. This "lean marine" really has a handle on our
"AMERICA."
---------------

Subject: historical perspective

Sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?"

Now I know why.

I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?"

Now I know why.

Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people.

On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.

On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.

I will not be manipulated.

I will not pretend to understand.

I will not forget.

I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting.

I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about him, he is still our president."

I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented, "We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington."

And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely -- nor should they be expected -- to show deference."

I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America.

I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem communications.

I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration.

I will not be comforted by "feel-good, do nothing" regulations like the silly, "Have your bags been under your control?" question at the airport.

I will not be influenced by so called,"antiwar demonstrators" who exploit the right of _expression to chant anti-American obscenities.

I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines.

I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality.

I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told the Labor Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?

There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be defeated by it. And defeat it we must!"

I will force myself to:

-hear the weeping

-feel the helplessness

-imagine the terror

-sense the panic

-smell the burning flesh

- experience the loss

- remember the hatred.

I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where did they find the courage?"

Now I know.

We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.

-- Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.)

Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.

Keep this going until every living American has read it and memorized it so we don't make the same mistake again.

Good post, too bad those who need to pay attention won't understand or believe what he was trying to say.

Glad you shared it.

Ya baby! Go team go! Peace be with all mankind, but first....Hit 'em again, hit 'em again, harder, harder! It is so easy to be sheep on an emotional high. It is easy to "see clearly" when wearing blinders. The truth can't make it's way into your peripheral vision then. My God people! Who are "THEY"? Terrorism needs to be wiped out, so let's go to Iraq and do it? Hey, it's as good an Arab country as any....right? We should just nuke all them suckers and get it over with! Don't ya think? Better them than us....right? Man I feel better now. Thanks, Robby et al.

AJ, why is it that you have your opinion and you're ALWAYS right about it. Yet when anyone else has another view they're inherently wrong? Are you really that good? Is no one else entitled to their opinion? Why do you have such a need to attack others and dominate with your views?

I see the merits in some of his statements, but this blanketed sledge-hammer bravado is not only reckless but down right idiotic as well. According to this, he basically damns anyone who doesn't support ol' GW. This is as right-winged radical as I've seen.

My respect/gratitude goes out to most of those who serve (just because you're in the military doesn't make you an honorable person.....I know plenty of terrible/evil individuals who serve and have served); however, I don't just blindly subscribe to what a Sgt. thinks simply by virtue of him being a Marine.

OK, BLOWHARDS.....

Gotta love them Millitant Liberals ending the anti war sentiments with "BRING IT ON!"

Ok, climbing back on my fence now.

Hmm, sounds like you hang out with some crappy people. Is this maybe where your apparent anger and bitterness comes from!? I guess I'm fortunate, most of the people I'm around are nice and good individuals.

Ok, like you stated, bring it with all your typical name calling! Not only can I take it but with you I'm used to and expecting it!

Nope. Went to college and you tend to run across a large spectrum of people. And, "running across" is not necessarily befriending someone. cj, you need to keep sentiments with the current thread....my point, if I'm not "name calling" YET, then don't bring it up. Don't get your feathers ruffled because I've "run across" some worthless jarheads that like to rape women.

Now, if you're a good boy, I'll throw you a few Krispy Kremes!

You really are a piece of work there Sonny, I'll give you that. But I won't elaborate now. Hey, if you're offering some donuts I'll be good (for now) and take them! Typical cop, huh?

Thanks though for setting me straight on what I should/should not comment on in threads. I AM keeping a list so I don't offend the liberals here (freedom of speech as long as you approve of it?). Yea...

Ok now, donut time?!

LOL!

cj, you're a good sport! I'll bow my head and retract the tasteless donut comment as you are handling yourself quite gracefully.

You, sir, have matched my cynicism with an even hand and I respect that.

Touche'!

So now what, no donut? And here I was looking forward to it.
Well, guess maybe I'll just have to go out now, have a good cigar and WISH I had some donuts too.

CJ, I state an opinion or state why I disagree with one, sometimes strongly. YOU say that I am right. Read your post and think about it. I do get fed up with some of the ultra conservative liberal bashing posts that are just there to "bash" rather than make any valid point (like rather than answering a question about Bush, bashing Clinton who is playing no part in this election...he's gone...get over it). Other times I think it's just some plain old warped thinking or short sightedness that I think needs a jolt (how dare me!). I'm not out for hate. I'm out to change some minds. Unfortunately, when strong opinions conflict sometimes rational adults become irrational and childish and would rather exchange barbs than opinions. I do like to get under people's skin, but I hope it's to try to maybe bend a thought just a little bit in a different direction. I would hope that thinkers with an open mind would see that. I know there are those who won't and that there are opinions that will not change for whatever the reason, but if there's one person who says, "Ya know, that guy sure is a jerk", but later thinks about the facts and says, "...but maybe I see his point there", then it was worth it. Every time I see one of your opinions and it differs from mine should I ask you why you think you're right all the time and why you think I'm inherently wrong? Don't worry. I'm just gonna tell you that I think you're wrong and here's why.

AJ, I must preface this post by reminding you that I DON'T get emotional, as you've stated, about my posts. I do this for entertainment. Sorry if I'm bursting any little bubbles with this, but it's true.

I was going to comment about your last post, but I'm not going to. You don't want to let this difference in opinion rest, and that's fine. It's your call. So feel free after my post here to get your last word in, I don't care. I'm sure you think you know better, but in all honesty I REALLY don't care what more you have to say on the matter. I do though recommend you actually read my posts and see if what I'm saying isn't against what you stand for politically, but rather in trying to clarify some odd statements you've typed here (knowing the whole time you have no desire to clarify anything asked of you, but it's ok).

Besides, I'd much rather go after Sonny now. I mean come on, offer donuts in anger then later retract the offer???? Mean, just mean...

(haha)
