Cigar smoke ventilation

We're buying a new home that will be built by December. I finally get my library/office/cigar room! Considering the house is not built yet, I guess I have several options for installing ventilation and/or air cleaners in the room for cigar smoke. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should put in? Two walls of the room are exterior house walls and the room is about 13 x 13. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You are a lucky guy! I would make sure the door is "sealed" when closed if you do not want smoke and the aroma of cigars drifting down hall way. Charlie

Cross ventilation would be your easiest route. (multi-window. I'd also option for tile or wood flooring over rug to eleviate potential future stagnation. Remember to have the humidifier installed on your central heating system either by the builder or by yourself. If you have lee-way with your builder, have a return air duct installed in the dream room.

The other important thing is to allow the same amount of CFMs(cubic feet per minute) into the room that you are exhausting, otherwise you will just recirculate it. I also recommend venting outside. Don't know where you live, but if you have a "Grangers" accessable, check them out. They have lots of fans/ducts/loovers etc. for venting.

i don't understand the need for venilation. i smell like a cigar, my carpets smell like cigars, my poodle smells like a montecristo, both my canaries sing without a problem and my african gray and rose breasted cockatoo smell like cohibas. of course i do not smoke in someone else's car or home or office or store.

I'm sorry RICKAMAVEN. I love cigars, and I don't mind the smell either, but I do have to respect those who live with me and have to be around me. Unfortunately, to some, cigars stink ... hell, to me a stagnant house that smells like yesterday's 'old soldier' stinks. It sounds to me like all your companions are of the 'non-human' type who really don't have a voice in the matter ...

You miht consider a solid core door. They seem ti seal better than hollow core types. Don't

You might consider a solid core door. It seems to seal better than hollow core types. Don't forget the bottom. There's often a gap for clearance during opening. A slightly raised yhreshold can eliminate this space when the door is shut. It's a great noise buffer as well. So is insulation placed in interior walls. Good luck!

"all your companions are of the 'non-human' type" i'll be sure to mention that to my wife toby. did i mention the rabbit smelled like a partagas. "i love the smell of cigars in the morning" and remember, "cigars, they are not just for breakfast anymore." feel free to write rickamaven, not necessary to capitalize my handle, but feel free to capitalize on my idiosyncratic posts.

Thanks all for the great advice. I tell you what the final solution is, when it happens. RiCkAmAvEn (how about mixed caps?) I'll be sure to pass your advice along to my wife. However I don't think it's going to fly as well as with your wife. Mine complains about the garage and dog smelling like cigars...let alone the house! Personally I think the cigar smell on the dog is much better than his normal scent. But what are you going to do? Women, you can't live with them...ah you guys know the rest!

i believe mixed caps are a sign of confusion about one's sexual orientation.

I wave a half-folded newspaper over my head when I smoke inside.

RICKAMAVEN, I too have birds that smell of cigars. I have to really watch my african grey, as he will grab a stogie out of an ashtray and run. While sorting out the humidor one day, I was stunned to see him trying out a Padron 2000. Luckily he only damaged the cello, (Wrappers on? Wrappers off? LOL)and the cigar was saved.
