i just watched the dvd of the movie the networks would not show. i don't know why.

president reagan was portrayed by james brolin and nancy reagan was portrayed by judy davis. as a movie, it was well done and brolin was remarkeable as president reagan.

i saw nothing negative about either of the two reagans. it showed president reagan as a man who did what he thought was best for the country and his wife, doing what all wives should do, helping him make decisions when he needed input.

unfortunately they do not appear to be particularly good parents because they were so wrapped up in each other.

as his mental health started to deteriorate with the approaching alzheimers, nancy took more responsibility to help her husband.

the movie demonstrated what i had always suspected, that a lot of his people kept him out of the loop, and caused most of the damage to his presidency.

they were a very loving couple and nancy reagan as displayed in the movie had only one agenda, the protection of her husband.

I have a prfessor at school who was very close to them and he says he loved to watch them work together. Reagan was great as a macro manager, a leader, and as a charismatic entertainer (which lets face it presidents need to have) and Nancy was sort of behind the scenes taking care of the little things and really making sure that he got dressed in the morning. Even though he was the president, on several occasions my professor witnessed the secret service or advisors telling the president where to go and what to do and he would always ask if Nancy was o.k. with that

I was too young to know what was going on, but I wonder how much I would have liked him...my dad worships him ilke the second coming (he actually has a huge poster of him in our living room) I think I would have liked him, probably more than Bush and certainly more than Bush number one.

since you're complaining about being ignored, I thought that I would ask you what your opinion of the Man is, not the movie, but Reagan as a president. I personally think he is very comparable to Bush #2 in that he did what he beleived was best for the country, no matter what polls or critics said. I know a lot of people will disagree that either of them did what was best, but I see Bush as being a leader. I disagree with a lot of his policies and he has done a lot to offend his conservative base, but he does what he thinks is right.
I think like Reagan and as you pointed out, he takes care of the big decisions and often times the people around him do things that he doesn't agree with and is unaware of. With regards to the war on terror, I think the comparisons to the cold war are applicable. Bush certainly is leading us into dangerous ground and into dangerous times. Reagan's arms race was also a big gamble, but I think that the both of them beleived in the principles of America and believe that people geuinly want to live in a free society not unlike ours.
What say you Rick?

several big differences.

president reagan had a mandate, i believe almost 60%.

president reagan had no background of being a dunce, a drug user, and propped up by his family contacts, every time he screwed up.

little w on the other hand is a dunce and while he himself never had any agenda because he didn't need one, his people do have an agenda and he is the figurehead pushing it.

the agenda is not peace on earth, good will towards man.
