I am going on a cruise later this month. The ship has a cigar lounge and my room has a veranda. Do I take my own cigars or buy on the boat? Any advice is appreciated; I have never been on a cruise before.

Thanks,
Castlewa

I'd take my own. Anything on cruise ships is generally expensive and they will probably not have a good selection.

Ditto.

Went to a cigar friendly lounge on a cruise once. People walk through it as a short cut to get where they want to go and make a big deal about people smoking a cigar in there. From the looks on their faces you would've thought that people were performing human sacrifices or bestiality!

Enjoy the cigars on a trip to the beach. Most islands have cabbies that'll hire out for the day...get one of those and have a good time!

DMV is right! Have had some funny experiences on vacations and cigar smoking!

Person "Why are you smoking that filthy thing"?
Me"because I can, and I enjoy cigars"!
Person "You are polluting my air"!
Me "Sorry, I did not know you owned the air"!
On and on untill the individual stomps off muttering to him or herself!

Enjoy yourself, as others will tell you they are not enjoying your smoke even when in a cigar lounge.

what's an AK cruise, alaska?

if so you are on for one of the better cruises you will ever take. toby and i cruised once or twice a year for over ten years, and the alaska cruise on holland america, with real crab legs, not snowflake crab and real room service is 1st class all the way.

Are you departing from Seattle or Vancouver..
If Vancouver... make sure to pick up a few ISOMs for the trip before departure. If Seattle.... Email me.. maybe we can hook up before you go..

I'd freeze up if it ever got below freezing for an hour down here!

In all seriousness...some friends I know took a couple of cruises to Alaska...They loved it...not my cup of tea though...ENJOY!

Yep, a cruise to Alaska. I have cruised Alaksa once on a much smaller ship and we did not cover as much area as the big ship is going to (my folks go every year on their boat). This trip is going out to the Hubbard glacier and is departing out of Seattle. My wife needs continuing education for her CPA license and the cruise was one of the ways for her to get the credits so it will be a business trip (wink). She will be in class 6 hours a day and I will be???? Oh, I am sure there is something I can find to do.

BTW on another topic I was in Vegas last month and smoking a cigar in a nice lounge and people kept giving me that look, then one from the group came over and asked what I was smoking. I thought here it comes, I told him it was an Ashton VSG and he said no wonder it smells so good. Different place for sure, I liked it.

Rickmaven,

The only urge I get at 4am anymore is to get out of bed and go pee. Thanks for the tip though.
