I am interviewing with the largest engineering firm in the nation for a position in Atlanta and I am VERY confident I am going to be offered.

Who can help me out with a bit of insight? I have looked at the cost of living indexes, etc. and they all say it is comparable to Baton Rouge, but I want real feedback (state income tax, property tax, etc.). Also, I know that north Atlanta/Fulton County is the most desirable, but what areas are places to run from?

So much to talk about.. where will you be working? North Fulton has awful taxes. Most of us live further out and spend a LOT of time in the car. I would look at Forsyth, North Gwinnett, or even Hall county. State taxes - yes 6% I think.

There are too many concervatives here Sonny ;-) Don't look at Fulton as Mark said. I'm at the southwestern tip of Gwinnett right next to fulton. Actually half of my development is in Fulton and half is in Gwinnett. Atlanta (the city) is in Fulton County.

I don't know about that Sonny...

Best of luck on your new job in Atlanta.
Remember to practice the "tomahawk" and to keep that ham radio cranked up. I understand that's the only way you're going to get to hear the Liberal radio network before it goes out of business. LOL

I have done several corporate reallocations and find if you look for the best schools you find the best neighborhoods. Stay north of Atlanta and you should do fine. Also, talk with your new employer. How I found my last three neighoods.

Sonny - if you get serious email me. mrtelcom at bellsouth dot net. Oh - and you have to acknowledge first that the only reason you won the peach bowl a few years back against GT was our 6 turnovers. ;^P
