Associated Press:

HAVANA -- First baseman and outfielder Kendry Morales, considered by some to be Cuba's top young player, has defected to the United States.

Say what you want about this country, but I haven't seen too many American's defect to Cuba!!

I hate (and have never watched) "American Idol", "Survivor", "The Bachelor" and Bill O'Reilly. But I love that they are allowed to exist and prosper in our country.

It sounds like this guy would be a welcome addition to the Cubs ;-}

They both blow...La Russa is a putz and Dusty is a whiney bastage trying to win with Giants rejects.

But I do think that Senior Morales would like nice playing first at what was once PacBell Park.

Bill O'Reilly was a decent show. But he has become quite the pious, pompous a$$ lately.

And... GO RED SOX!!!

You don't think he did it for the MONEY do you? I'll bet he will use at least half his new found wealth to buy boats to free his cuban comrades, yeah right, don't hold your breath.

Rick, The hot dogs are OK at what used to be Pac Bell Park but be prepared to spend (I think about $4.50 for a dog and about $6. for a beer). When I go to a game, I stop at Safeway and buy a fresh deli sandwich for about $6 and bring it with me so I don't buy food at the stadium.

Whe are you coming to the Bay Ares?

Ducati... not true at all. Some of us feel the sign on the statue of liberty should be changed from "Give us your tired huddled masses yearning to breathe..." to "NO VACANCY".

All joking aside, I do not mind any citizen from another country immigrating into ours, as long as they:

1) do it legally, with all the paperwork involved
2) remember WHY they left their country to come to ours
3) learn the language, if you live here, you should speak english

I was stationed in the Philippines for 3 1/2 years. After year one I could speak enough tagalog to hold a conversation. I don't think those 3 things are too much to ask...

absolute agreement with you.

one of the first thing my grandparents wanted to do when they got off the boat at ellis island, was learn to speak english and the second thing was to become citizens.

they knew why they left europe and they knew the american dream would allow them to prosper if they worked hard enough.

Rick, it is all too common now to see people living in our country wearing shirts, bumper stickers, et al stating how much they love their previous country.

My answer to those forms of media are: Take your silly a$$ back there then. I should have added rule #4... Love this country as your own now, or go back to your previous country.

My wife is an American citizen now, but she is still a Filipina. We did all the paperwork necessary for her to immigrate and become a citizen. She is proud of her heritage, but she loves it here. She will vote for the first time this year (she has been here since 1991, but became a citizen in Jan '03).

She's voting Bush!! Beautiful AND smart... no wonder I've kept her for over 16 years!
