Do you guys find that leaving the cedar sleeves on you cigars increases the risk of growing mold while in your humidor?

Thanks,

The reason that I asked is because the only time I’ve ever seen mold on my cigars is after removing the cedar sleeve before smoking. Granted the last time this happened the humidity was a bit high at 75% of so. On the other occasions before it the humidity was a nice 70% with a temp of about 72F and no other cigars have ever been affected. My Brother seems to think that the cedar sleeves sometime trap extra moister on the cigar. I’ll be sure to run everyone’s comments by him.

Thanks again,

Head

If you put your cigars in a humidor, you don't really need the cedar sleves, unless it's just for looks. You should leave them on if you keep them in a tupperdor or coolerdor, to help them age properly and to give them that mild cedar taste ...

Cedar encouraging mold? Definitely NOT!

High humidity in a tightly sealed tupperware bowl or ziplock will give you bigtime mold though. Unfortunately, I am speaking from experience.
