Okay, the age poll on the cigars and related page inspired this idea. I had a statistics prof years ago that, to prove a point about probability, bet our class of 75 or so that several in the class would share a birthday with at least one other person. Sure enough, the first person to give out their b-day prompted another hand to go up.

Let's see how long it takes for one of us to find another forum member that shares the same birthday (not including year of birth)

Here's mine: 6/16

I've heard that probability advanced before, but to date in my life, have met only ONE person who shares my 8/17 b'day.

I'm pretty close to SteveS with 8/15. My mom's is 8/17 but since she doesn't smoke cigars we don't have a match.

Play on.

My Dad and Delores, our neighbor, were both born 10/11/33 (Yo bassdude, her son was born 4/1)

A girl I had a crush on in HS had the same birthdate as me.

I also share 11/30 with Samuel Clemmens and (ugh) Billy Idol

If we get to count celebs, I know that DeNiro's b'day is the same as mine, but I've never met him ...

I shared my 6/16 b-day with the illustrious Stan Laurel, and so far I have only actually met two other people with the same birthday.

I did this exercise in high school and met a young lady with the same date. We went out a for a while, and I always smile when I think about her and how we were introduced. Also my roomate in college shared the same date. And a kid down the street...

6/12...I share my brothers birthday,we are twins, but he was born 10 minutes before me. We are identical in appearance and voice, and we are both Republican conservatives.

DZ and CW,

Very cool! Now I've met two more. Amazing that we have (so far) three 6/16s on these boards (I wonder what the odds are :) ). By the way, CW, you beat me by one year--my b-day was 6/16/60.

gerber, how did you arrive at your handle? My favorite MacGuyver tool is a Gerber Multi-Plier 600 Series!

Hey CW,

I'm afraid I wasn't being terribly original in choosing my ID--it happens to be my last name. No direct relation to the babyfood or cutlery companies. That side of my family comes from Switzerland--a very interesting bunch: lots of Mennonite missionaries and then the odd black sheep like the guy who was a piano player years ago in the famous Red Dog Saloon in Alaska where, I believe, he was shot to death. Kind of makes me want to go read that family tree :)
