Anybody else see this last week?

Apparently, guy inherits junker and puts it on Fleabay thinkin he may get a couple c-notes for it.

Make that 2200 c-notes. Just shows you never can know what you really have unless you do some research or get just plain lucky.

I saw that this morning. That is a really rare experimental drag racer with the aluminum front end and a 421. Only six made. He'll have to put 150K into it to restore it but it'll be worth near 1.5 million if it's done right. Crazy car guys!

that is a fascinating story.
Interesting, too, that the EBay car had no motor, no transmission, and the front wrap and hood appear to have been replaced with steel--yet it still commanded big $.

I didn't see the auction but I believe some had noticed the 421 badge on the front grill and started inquiries and the seller had to add more pics of the
SD suspension and data plate. After that it started to take off.

Besides the 6 Lemans coupes, they also made 6 SD Tempest station wagons. One of the wagons was restored with all the origional parts and sold for 900k.

As for the junker coupe, the aluminum front end of the car was located in Fla last year and the engine is there, too. Looks like the buyer has some more dealing to do.
A little more cash and he can do a total restoration with the origional engine and this will be worth 1 mil+.
