One sunny day in 2005 an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush." The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here." The old man said, "Okay" and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush." The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here." The man thanked him and, again, just walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same U.S. Marine, saying "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush."
The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Bush. I've told you already that Mr. Bush is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?" The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it." The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "Yes Sir. See you tomorrow."

You must have never been in the U.S. military under a liberal. If you had you would know how it feels to wear the uniform when you are being led by an embarrassment. I served under a republican and a democrat and let me tell you pride came with the republican and embarrassment came with the democrat. P.S. I better call the Pentagon for my purple heart I just fell while I was roller blading.

^ Hurry up & get better--that'll teach you to roller blade without a helmet, knee/elbow/bun pads, and a good lawyer!

Brother Rick, what's with you? You seem to be consumed by BUSH.
Always BUSH-BUSH-BUSH...
You seem to seem to eat, breath, & smell BUSH.

Talk about something diferent (no, not ****** Cheney).
Tell us about your travels in the orient when you were a fine, young, strapping entrepreneur intent on making your mark. LOL!

I'm patiently waiting with my Miller Draft & some popcorn.

you don't want me to post my pimp days. you may forward it to pablo or anyone you think might be interested, but all i need is for some of the nut cases, no names please, to know some of my history.

did you know i met toby on my sales route when i was a fuller brush man.

did you know ross will be 40 this month, which is strange since i am going to be 51 next month.

did you know i change cars about every 13 years. that's 156 payments.

did you know as soon as toby became pregnant, i traded in my 1960 chevy nova convertable for a 1964 rambler american, 4 door, underpowered family values car. up until that time i had been driving only convertables, except for the jag, i'll post a picture of one exactly like i had, from 1955. in 1984 i bought a pontiac sunbird conv, and ross asked me why i bought a convertable. i explained to him i was a family values man and drove family values cars until then.

speaking of family values, toby asked me what family, the barker gang.
the manson family
bonnie and clyde who always visited their families
the jimmmmmy swagert family
the jim baker family
the joseph mengle family.

i said no, it's the families you see on tv with radiant faces, looking like ozzie and harriet, or the cleaver family, or the cunninghams.

i can't remember who was president in 1953 when i was in the military, but i never felt embarrased. i also never felt embarrased when i received any of my article 15's, all for insubordination.

i guess you would be less embarrassed serving under a president who is still AWOL, there is no statue of limitations on AWOL, murder, or rape, then a president who served in combat and was wounded three times, and decided he didn't like war. there was a famous general once who said that also.

Rick, your point is well taken--interesting stories though. You should eventually collaborate on a book with Cavallo.

I believe Ike was president in 1953--just took over for Truman.

Rick, that is FUNNY! I keep away from the political mumbo-jumbo, but that is downright comical.

my dad had something to brag about when he got busted down to corporal. he kicked a bucked of marine puke the way of a (smart-alec, much hated, cruel and stupid) officer who refused to allow his men to work in less than full uniform. it was a scorching day, and they were working on a road in some south pacific hellhole during WWII. the marines were puking and dropping like flies from the heat and lack of water that the dipwad officer refused to let them have until the job was done. these were combat-hardened marines who had been island hopping for months and months taking fire from and giving it back to the japanese; these weren't some fresh-off-the-boat FNGs. suffice it to say that my dad took that demotion on the chin -- his reward was seeing the officer lose his cool, give in and give his men water and care for dehydration finally.

Sometimes a man has to answer to a higher authority & do the right thing- despite regulations.

Tony, your dad was a righteous man and a man's man.
I have no doubt that Rickamaven fit a similar mold.

If I had had the honor of serving instead of going to college, I would have probably been written up for insubordination myself, and would have become the spud expert in the brig.

Cross the bridge, drive south on 29 about 8 miles....that's where I'm from. Nice to see a local on this board. Next time I'm in town, I'll pay you a visit and bring you a cuban! Take care!

So now the Marines are guarding the fence of the White House? Huh, news to me. Have to tell the people I work with.

Funny joke, but MUCH better with Clinton in it. NO bias here, haha.

1960 chevy nova convertable ??????????? Bet you wish you kept that one Rick. Since it was probably the only one ever made. The Nova didn't come out untill 1962.
and only had a convertible in 1963

"A Super Sport option (RPO-Z03) first became available on the Chevy II Nova 400 line in 1963. This was the only year that Chevrolet built a "drop-top" Nova SS because it discontinued the convertible body style on Novas in 1964. This made the 1963 convertible SS one of the most valuable Novas, even though it only came with the 194-ci 6 cylinder."

Makes all of your statements suspect now.

excuuuuuuse me. it was a 64 and and like many women, i had to put the top down by hand. also the brakes stunk, at 60 they just slid, and they need to be broken in, said felix chev of downtown and across the street from the collesium, fame.

they took my 60 tr3 in trade.

i shall post a picture of a 60 tr3 for your perusal. it's not mine, but samo. samo.

as a matter of fact i may post of my 55 or their abouts jag, the one that had a plate on it that said
averaged 100 miles per hour for 24 hours at lemans. it didn't mention that it was in the rain, but it was.

as far as cylinders, i don't know how many my 95 lhs has, i don't remember how many cylinders the jag had or the tr3 for that matter. i know my 54 tf had four. it was the only car i ever took the hood off and got my hands dirty. i didn't know how to raise the hood on the lhs for almost 2 years. as toby says, and i agree, if there is an on and off switch under the hood, it's worth looking. other then that, there are no usable parts for me.
