geez, and they say kerry's pals with france...

bush would get a lot more support if he dumped this chump. a good lot of bush's "friends only of billionaires" image has to do with ****** "oh THAT iraq!" cheney.

In an ABC-TV interview in July 2000, ****** Cheney denied participation in any oil- or other business-dealings between Halliburton and Iraq while he was CEO of the company. He admitted to deals with Libya and Iran, but stated that there were strict policies against dealing with Iraq. The Washington Post later revealed that according to UN reports, Halliburton in fact signed contracts worth $73 million with Iraq while Cheney was its CEO. According to the report, two Halliburton subsidiaries sold materials to Baghdad through French affiliates. The sales took place between the first half of 1997 and the summer of 2000. Cheney resigned from Halliburton in August of 2000.

Three weeks after the aforementioned interview, Cheney was informed that a Halliburton spokesman had publicly stated that Dresser Rand and Ingersoll Dresser Pump (the Halliburton subsidiaries) traded with Iraq. Cheney then modified his earlier response, and claimed to be unaware of these dealings. However, the firms continued trading with Iraq for more than a year while Cheney was Halliburton's CEO.

In September '03, Cheney said that since becoming vice president, "I've severed all my ties with (Halliburton), gotten rid of all my financial interest. I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had, now, for over three years."

To this day he still possesses over 430,000 shares of Halliburton stock options and a deferred compensation account valued at between $500,000 and $1 million.

As Vice President, Cheney continually denies playing any direct role in the government's awarding of multibillion dollar contracts to Halliburton and its subsidiaries, despite internal Pentagon emails indicating that he has.

President Bush has been quoted as saying Cheney's "doing a heck of a good job. When I picked him I knew he was a fine business leader and a fine, experienced man."

You guys always act so surprised to see stuff like this.

HELLO??

POLITICIAN = BIG FAT LIAR

They're all crooked. Sad to generalize so much, but if we did an in depth analysis, i'd probably be 94% correct. I'll go out on a limb and say 6% of politicians are NOT crooked.

Come on, RICKAMAVEN - You pound on the people who were (in bad taste) suggesting using Michael Moore's photo as a target, then you wish our sitting Vice President to die?

PS Apparently you missed the point of my post. No one here is going to change anyone elses mind in regards to who they are going to vote for in November. All these posts are so much blah, blah, blah.

AVB, brother calavera is a man of few words-- no blah, blah for him.

He can also fart on command & makes no "bones" about it.

bloody;

Is that a skull reference? Even better, calavera is my last name. A foreign exchange student informed me in the 10th grade that my last name meant skull.

PS If I could fart on command, then I would still be more talented than either candidate.

What the heck are we going to do with BOTH sets of presidential candidates...I'm gonna fire the current president & then pray.

Two votes that I wish I could take back, the one for Bush and the one for dubya.

If by some quirk, JfK wins, you will be wishing that you could have that vote back as well, when the real John Kerry steps forward and flips and flops and flips and flops some more....at least GWB stands on his convictions!

charlie: that's not what i've been seeing. it seems GWB has a pattern throughout his presidency of touting programs and then gutting them of financing. as soon as he's said "look at this great program that i endorse," boom -- he cuts their budgets drastically, especially, it seems, in the environmental (EPA) and energy (Energy Star) fields.
