Assuming you cut it today, even with proper watering and keeping the house relatively cool, the tree is going to be dropping needles and ready to go off like a flashbulb at the first stray static spark by Christmas Eve. I assume your fire insurance is paid up.

The wife and I pulled the tree and other decorations down from the attic on Saturday. The tree will probably go up sometime next week but were not putting up lights this year. Just going to toss a couple of those spiral light trees and maybe a light deer in the yard and call it good.

Not all that into Christmas decorating anyway, more of a Halloween fan myself.

Going to ye ole Christmas tree farm Sat to cut down our own.

Convinced the Mrs. that it would be good family time and fun for the girls. She wanted to put the fake tree back up.

Just starting a vacation my wife has me under strict orders to put up the tree TODAY!

Do I dare disobey and risk some time in the woe of woman. \Her pacing before my drugged and tied nekid body, ball gag in my mouth to stop my incessant rant about how I'm gonna if I get loose.....

........... whoa did I fall asleep?
Never mind!!!

We had a large gathering for Thanksgiving, so we put ours up a day prior. It is an artificial so no danger of drying out...it is as dry as it will get. With two young boys, it is impossible to hold out too long, my 3 yr old asked me for one week straight to put it up, I finally caved.

#13 Jet,

I'm not big on the "Xmas" thing either. However,

The abbreviation of Xmas for Christmas is not irreligious. The first letter of the word Christ in Greek is chi, which is identical to our X. Xmas was originally an ecclesiastical abbreviation that was used in tables and charts.

DONE!, including the exterior house deco.

With the warm weather we have been having, its nice to sit out on the
porch now and relax with a cigar amongst the lights.

Just got home from work and there is a little tree complete with lights here on the counter. I have no clue where this came from, but I have to wait until morning to find out. So I guess we're gonna have a tree up this year afterall!

We put up the outside decorations on Saturday but the inside, including the tree, will probably be done this weekend or next.

I just got back to Missouri yesterday to find that my neighbors had basically put a carnival in their front yard. Really cheap wire Christmas trees and snowmen that FLASH and some sort of BIG Christmasy ferris wheel that goes around and around, flashes AND plays electronic christmas music very loud. The neighbors on the other side of me have those big blowup things that are "animated" that never stay inflated so they wind up looking liking big piles of technicolor **** in their front yard. They, of course, leave them that way when it happens. Sigh..........I have a small tree with white lights and gold ornaments plus a few sentimental ones. I play classical music and old jazz Christmas standards.

what are the chances she could come by here? ... I'd love to have the tree looking like a masterpiece but I don't enjoy the process of achieving that ...

I figure that any minute now, MrsS is going to tell me it's time to put the tree up ... it'd be great if I could tell her that a pro from out of town is coming in to make our home into a masterpiece ...
