At Least Kerry went to war, as opposed to our current Predident. I hope the republicans have a message at their convention. If all they do is attack Kerry, they will lose more votes than they gain.

OK, OK, OK.........IF this information is true, then I think the only appropriate thing to do would be for the Democrats to hire this bad@ss PI to investigate ol' GW and his WMDs..........being GW is such the pillar of truth.......hell, I say let the man also look into GW record with the NG.

Get over the WMD "lie" as you Democrats like to call it and realize that all, repeat, all intelligence sources (British, Russian, Turkish, USA and others) agreed that he had WMD's! He probably did and shipped them to Iran. He had them, he used them and he would use them again! Investigate all you want! Have a ball!

So if I recall correctly war records were insignificant when it was Bush 40 against Clinton but now all of the sudden they are very important.

They were important to me then. I voted for Bush Senior. His son is not going to get my vote, for slamming a man, who went where he was unwilling to go Himself.

Charlie, all propoganda aside, where exactly is this "proof" of WMD? "He said, she said" coming from biased sources DOES NOT count. Inquiring, mis-lead Americans want to know. We would all like to see the immediate danger Saddam posed with his WMDs.......that is the reason OUR soldiers are dying, right?

BTW, we know he used gas on Kurds and is an evil individual, but that is not the reason GW used for going to war without unilateral support........Saddam was supposedly posing an immediate threat to the rest of the free world........SHOW ME THE THREAT! Do realize, Saddam and Osama are not the same people as one resided in Iraq and the other in/around Afganistan.

Sonny are you saying it is ok to Kill Thousands??? I could see your Point... as long as it is not directly effecting your family this is ok in your book??

it didn't take place a block away from you so this is ok??

Get Real will ya..

WMD's have been showing up... but ya know it was costing American tax payers Billions a year to babysit this **** for the past 12 yrs...

we've lost 900+ so far in this last Iraq war that has lasted less then 1/3 of what Vietnam did which we lost 55,000... WWII lasted from 1941 to 1945 and we lost how many?? WWI lasted how long and we lost how many??

but low and behold we spank one F*&Kin Prisoner and post the pictures we're all the bad guy's and we should all Hang... better yet you probably feel it is ok for these Muslums to be beheading Americans who want to earn a living???

Wake Up Country!!!!

Hog,

First, this war has cost MUCH more in the past year than the last decade in terms of dollars required to "baby sit" Saddam.

Second, if the US is to be the world's Champion, then I do believe we should turn our focus towards Africa now.......the atrocities occuring over there right now make Pre-war Iraq look like Romper Room. BUT, they don't have WMDs........

Third, do realize the VAST MAJORITY of the US population is not of the military cloth and the "kick ass" mentality, while it befits a soldier, it does not align well with civilized society.

Fourth, what do you think the casualties would be without modern technology (not present in Vietnam)? And, what do you think the casualties would be if we went to war with China (more appropriate comparison to WWII)?

BTW, we are far from ready to leave Iraq, so expect that 900 to get quit a bit larger in the next 3 to 10 years.......but, hey, we got Saddam!

Your statement:

"Third, do realize the VAST MAJORITY of the US population is not of the military cloth and the "kick ass" mentality, while it befits a soldier, it does not align well with civilized society."

So what your saying is people who serve or served in the military are not civilized, hmmm.

You just proved (atleast to me) it doesn't matter how many college degrees you have, you still can be ignorant !

If it wasn't for those who served in WW II you be typing your replys in German and eating rice cakes for dinner.

How uncivilized of are Warriors to embarrass an elitist college graduate like yourself.

Ok Sugar, let me clarify.

It is an element of a soldier's demeanor that does not align itself with civilized society. A soldier can be civilized, but is trained to be savage when needs be. This is not a knock on soldiers......they are trained to be warriors, where the rest of us are not; therefore, we think a bit different at times.

I hope you can see this from there......

Yo Sonny_LSU:

"trained to be a savage"

Hypothetical:

If you were at a picnic with your family and a man with a baseball bat came charging at your family, would you not step in front of the man and become as "savage" as it takes to stop him from harming your family, or would you ask the man to hold off until you could be trained in the art of savagery.

Sonny the right time the right conditions we are all "SAVAGES" even those of you that are highly civilized.

Got any Grey Pupon?

Sonny

We do not train our soldiers to be Savages! You need to realize that no American military man is trained to be a Savage, yes, trained to survive and act on instinct, but not to be some head case that goes around and tortures the opposing forces! I do not ever remember at any time in my training being trained to act in such a manor......Never!

first off, there are red herrings all over the place throughout this thread. apples and oranges comparisons.

i did want to say this, though -- my dad was raised from age five in an orphanage (he ran away at age 16 and joined the USMC, fought in WWII).

he considered the corps to be his "first real family" because the USMC did, in essence, take him from boyhood to manhood.

he learned (and used in the so. pacific) hand-to-hand combat in the corps. he was also taught which fork and spoon to use at formal dinners, to stand up when a lady entered the room and dozens upon dozens of other manners/social graces... in the USMC.

i don't know if the corps (or any branch) still teaches "the gentlemanly arts" to its troops, but back then the USMC taught them to be both efficient killing machines when necessary and to be polished, knowledgable gentlemen whose immaculate manners were most impressive when not in combat.

Yo Sonny_LSU:

If you are going to call me "SAVAGE", at least curtsy before and after, surely they taught you manners at LSU.
