Keyes, a former radio talk-show host who would have to move to Illinois before election day on Nov. 2, previously criticized Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) when she moved to New York to run for the U.S. Senate.

Keyes has never won an election, having been defeated in campaigns for the U.S. Senate in Maryland in 1988 and 1992. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for president in 1996 and 2000.

I thought they (Senate Members) had to be born in the state they represent? or at least had established residency in the State??

when I moved to Florida in 1984 I couldn't/wouldn't been established resident of the state for 6 months??

August/September/October/November 4 months long enough??

Ok I'm lost here LOL

He has never lived in Illinois but under state law would only have to take up residence by election day, Nov. 2.

Despite being the head cookie maker while her old man was governor of the state of Arkansas they packed up a bunch of furniture and silverware from the White House and flew into New York like some redneck backward thinking carpetbaggers.

LOL!

Good Luck to Keyes,
I used to enjoy his show. But I think Obama will win by a landslide.

Obama, Has his work cut out for him now...

both he and Keyes touch base on many topics,
Both know constitutional Law... and to tell the truth Obama sounds more like a Republican then a Democrat by far means and if his spirit and heart is what he talks it is.. either way he will be switching over to the republican side off life "If" he makes it to the Senate and see's that their policies don't line up with his.... AND THEY Don't if he's for real!!!

it will be a good race and Illinois needs this...

we still gotta deal with Liberal ******!!!!

A case of oratory vs. oratory AND substance--Mr. Keyes will hand him his head on a platter if they debate. Ever see him debate Alan Dershowitz? Keyes DEMOLISHED him.

However it remains to be seen whether the Republican party will truly support ($$$)Alan Keyes. If they abandon him like they did in Maryland, the superficial voters will be swayed by Osama's oratory theatrics which ooze sincerity.

Too bad...their loss.

Blood, as a fellow Marylander, I know that what you say has merit, but what chance does any Republican candidate have until "Babs" Mikulski and "DoNothing" Sarbanes decide to retire?
What I think is interesting is how much support Obama receives from hardline NAACP types. He really hasn't shared in or been penalized by the "American Black Experience," yet they see him as one of their own, a champion. And he's smart enough to capitalize on that. Imagine say in 5 years or so, he changes parties and runs on a Presidential ticket with Colin Powell. What a hoot that would be!

I heard the news last night on my way home from Wisconsin. I am a Maryland resident as some of you here. This morning the headlines also noted his criticism of Hillary Clinton. I believe in just about everything Alan Keyes believes and I wish him the best. This, however, does not seem to be the best way to go about things. Sure Alan Keyes is a master of logic, morals and the law, but that should reflect his actions.

I wish he would run in Maryland despite the vast Democratic majority. His message displays greater hope for American and humanitarian values than any politician out there. This is the positive note of his new campain, he gets to breath new life to his message. Maybe he will gain better footing out there than he has here. Well, now that he has chosen this path we shall see the final outcome.
