Thank God this is a civilized board. I disagreed with a statement of that board's administrator, and now lots of folks are beating me up. He probably knows more about cigars than I will ever know or care to know, but I think he's off base on a human relations and business issue. I hope this board will gather its wagons around me. Whatever the your issue may be, stand up like a man and fight back, as Don Corleone would say.

Well I'm not registered with that board and it takes three days to get activated. I've read through the comments and they have some whiney spoiled brats over there. Addresses should be given so that slappings can be issued.

You talkin bout that major dist. down south? I was reading that today. Good, valid points on both sides. MHO....?
1. How can you buy the amount that they bought w/o at least looking at a sample?
2. Comments posted by "official" of company where a little unprofessional.
3. Cutomers do have the right to return merchandise and there is a pretty liberal return policy.

Just a bad situation that got out of hand, that should have been quelled,( not fueled) by a company spokesman.

If it's the same situation in question :-)

I have good luck buying from them and they do offer some of the best prices around. Service is ok if you have a complaint, but nothing like here! I have stayed off their chat boards because it is not as easy to pop off a remark or change from one board to the next! Overall, a bunch of spoiled brats, but some of the gang from CB are on there and it is just easier to use this board. Every now and then we pile on each other and snipe back and forth, but not as "cutthroat"! Of course our liberals are fun to foil with and they feel they same about JJ, Tailgater, and me I am sure! (sorry but couldn't name everyone-please do not get your feelings hurt) :):):) Charlie

You may have noticed that I posted my original note here at 2:40 a.m. By that time on the other board there were half a dozen responses to a thread I began in response to a comment, the board's administrator, and a well known writer, commentator on the subject of cigars. In response to several comments on their BBS made about an e-mail special at that site, said something to the effect that he would never be able to understand the guy who expected something from a $1.20 cigar. His boss, the owner had written only weeks before in Smoke magazine that the "difference between a two dollar cigar and a ten dollar cigar is eight bucks." I wrote that I thought that his comments were particularly insensitive to the guy who could only afford $1.20. Is he any less a customer than the guy who thinks nothing of blowing $25.00 a stick on a Cuban Partagas Lusitania? When I was in business I always stressed to my staff that every customer, regardless of what they spent, should be treated as your best customer. Someday that little customer might grow into a very big one; and, even if they didn't you owed them the respect they gave you, by even thinking of doing business with you. By the time I went to bed, a few minutes after I posted here, I saw that either my feelings were not shared by anyone on the board or that they were apprehensive about criticizing him. On the few posts that I saw, I was flamed. Until about noon Friday, I didn't glance at that board because, frankly, I had no burning interest and was busy getting ready for a family wedding. When I finally looked at the thread it showed about 150 posts; with either two or three posts from himself. I had no time nor inclination to read the posts or respond. This evening I thought I'd sit down after midnight, read and respond, but, alas, the thread is gone, gone, gone and it's just as well. As have many of you, I've fought some real battles in life and have, at times, been fortunate to come out alive. To fight a battle of words with people I don't know is not a constructive use of my time. So, I just want to thank everyone on this board for their support. I have no intention to rehash the thread on the other board and I hope you let it rest as well. Every cigar site board has some wonderful people. The Rothman board is no exception. That 194 posts were made in response to my comments, amazes me. I hope I generated some constructive thought. Now it's time for the topic to die. The time may come when I'll have occasion to chat with him is person and find out what he wrote. I do want everyone to know how much I appreciate this board. Steve*R

Hey Steve........I didn't respond to your thread or read many of the posts over there but your point was well taken by me. I do know the story you told of the old men hanging out on the street with you made me think. Your story reminded me of the other day when I was serving lunch to senior citizens and doing some volunteer duties. We also get free lunch for doing it but that lunch is hard for me to choke down. Army green broccoli and pasta that is cooked longer than anything. I know that those senior citizens have been through some hard times in their lives and many are sensitive to wastefulness. So anyway the other day I was choking down my food trying not to offend anyone by not eating but trying not to gag and offend anyone either! Anyway, I could relate to the story of the old dudes savoring a cigar because I know some are not as fortunate as many of us.......Mahalo, Scott

I don't know what the issue was Steve, but take your skirt off and suck it up sister. Sounds like you need a dribble cup not a new cigar site. I also wouldn’t assume that coming to this site would provide you safe refuge. I for one am a sensitive participant however many of the members here are down right ruthless. You should only see what these guys write down. (a total lack of sensitivity if you ask me) Before you breakdown a box of Kleenex, you may want to consider the long-term emotional damage you could be in for. No thanks needed for the heads up. (I also find that a good Richard Simmons video and a ½ gallon of Pralines and cream cheer me right up when I’m feeling blue.)

I was the one who started the whole stink over there. I couldn't beleive all the "cows" that just stood in line to defend their venerable cigar gods (the admin and the owner). This might be amusing to some folks here, the admin emailed me a warning for using the term "very dissapointed" in a different post. what a little hitler. He deserves a poke in the eye, or something. One of these days good ole karma will catch up to the sweat king and he'll drop dead in the middle of a herf.
