I intend to smoke my next cigar in honor of REAL LIFE HEROS. I'm not talking about Sports Stars or politicians, but rather real people doing truly heroic things. Recently, a local man who drives a small bus for transporting senior citizens saved several of their lives when the bus caught on fire. He carried out all of the passengers, which included several handicapped. He suffered smoke inhalation and was sent to the hospital where he recovered. Yet, this was merely a side story on the news. Instead, the Conditt affair was headlining. Makes me sick. But here's to the nameless heroes of our world!

Tailgater,

I was just up in your neck of the woods (Eastham) doing a little fishing. I didn't get to see the story in the paper. There should be more people in this world like that. There was just an incident here in Stuart Fl. were two women saved the life of a pregnent woman and her 1 year old daughter. The woman steped off a steep sand bar into 10 feet of water with her daughter in her arms. The two women saw her waving and could not see that the child was out there with her until they swam out to her. Both women got an award from the local fire department and a big write up in the local paper.

Hope they were biting often. In fact, I'll be going out on a deep sea fishing excursion this Friday. It's a work thing (supplier appreciation) but it should be a blast. Bringing many smokes, a cooler for fish, an appetite, and my wife. In that order. (I can be brave like this because she doesn't read these things...)

the hero is the guy who get's up every morning and goes to his job, whether he likes it or not, and makes just enough to keep the family together. he takes his vacation and usually spends it at home fixing things. he might go bowling once a week and have a beer with his friends. he keeps going even though he knows this is it. this is what my life is about and i'm glad to do it.

A hero is the Firemen who risk their lives to save people and pets from fires, a hero would be Policemen/women who really do use the motto, "to protect and serve" and a hero would be a school teachers who stand proudly day to day in class rooms that are overcrowed, where we have to have metal detectors to protect the school from gang bangers and still they go to teach! These are the people we should salute and praise, not the guy who hits the home run and makes 15 to 20 million to play a game that most would play for free if they had the talent! Charlie PS Sound a little like a democrat.....not...smoke a good cigar and think about those people/heros!
