BEAR PASSES OUT AFTER 36 BEERS

SEATTLE (Reuters) - A black bear was found passed out at a campground in Washington state recently after guzzling down three dozen cans of a local beer, a campground worker said on Wednesday.

"We noticed a bear sleeping on the common lawn and wondered what was going on until we discovered that there were a lot of beer cans lying around," said Lisa Broxson, a worker at the Baker Lake Resort, 80 miles northeast of Seattle.

The hard-drinking bear, estimated to be about two years old, broke into campers' coolers and, using his claws and teeth to open the cans, swilled down the suds.

It turns out the bear was a bit of a beer sophisticate. He tried a mass-market Busch beer, but switched to Rainier Beer, a local ale, and stuck with it for his drinking binge.

Wildlife agents chased the bear away, but it returned the next day, said Broxson.

They set a trap using as bait some doughnuts, honey and two cans of Rainier Beer. It worked, and the bear was captured for relocation.

Rainier couldn't have asked for a better commercial if they tried. But hey not a real hard choice between that and Bush.

...no, really.

When I was in college, our biggest local watering hole had Busch long necks for $1.........hey, they were cheap and tasted ok if you slammed them cold, but the next morning you were in for Hell.

I'm not much of a beer drinker at all, but I do like Red Dog (another Seattle micro-brew). However Rainier has to be better than some other local brands I've had the misfortune to try...

Back in the early '60s a buddy of mine and I used to go to the Rainier brewery on a weekday and take the tour and hang out in the Mountain Room and drink freebies for about an hour. The secret was to go on a weekday when it was slow and they were bored. The only rub was, you had to take the tour.

I've always considered Busch a good camping at the lake with the guys beer.

After you get past the first one you can guzzle the chit all day.

It doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

It tastes better than most lite beers.

You don't care how many your buddies drink cause there's another 30 pack in the reserve cooler.

Geez, I'm going to Yellowstone is few weeks to hike. That's during the Fall Final Feeding Frenzy for bears before they hit the caves for a long snooze. Everyone said: "take bear spray, a must have if atttacked".

Now I see all I need is a full cooler. Who knew?
