received a bundle of the Poderoza box pressed lonsdales last week. Tried unsuccessfully to draw ANY smoke from it. I re-clipped BOTH ends several times. Still NO ability to draw smoke. The same thing happened to my friend who had one. I've had difficult draw from wet cigars, but this was ridiculous. Customer service is ready to help me out (thanks Trish) but I want to let them "dry out" to determine if it is simply moisture. Any suggestions as to how to expidite this process, short of an oven? It's been VERY humid in the northeast, and my humidors are a bit high at 73%.

Joe, I will bet that they are too tightly rolled and that the humidity will probably not have that big of an effect on the cigars. Just my opinion, but unless they are Maduros 73% should not be too high. Charlie

Let's break down the name Poderoza. If we unscramble the letters within this name we find two distinct words. ZERO ADO meaning “no excitement”. I think they threw the P in to make the word sound Spanish. I rest make my case on this thread. By ****, taste ****.

Well, Wany, a little more eloquent description would not be needed! I do not care for them either! Along with Lars Tethrash, Acid and Lone Wolf! Charlie

Have you actually tried one of these things? I thought they were fairly new. I know the ones I had were not only wet, but also young. That can be a good thing when you're dating, but not for cigars... As for their flavor, they weren't half bad. I have given up on cigar-snobbery. I can actually enjoy a cheaper cigar if it smokes well. Unfortunatly, this one hasn't (yet).

Since I first asked about the Poderoza, two kindly forum members each sent me one. Both were larger gauged than the panatella. One obviously had been aged and placed in a dry box at 65RH, the other pulled directly from a bundle. The aged, dried cigar was really very nice; flavorful, plenty of smoke, medium draw. The other immediately appeared to be either damp or plugged. It was absolutely not smokeable. Just for the he11 of it, I cut it in half to see if the plug was located closer to the cap or the foot. I still got no draw. My conclusion is this cigar was hastily made with tobacco that was too damp to be molded and then too much pressure was used before the wrapper was applied. No amount of aging or drying would help it. I did low-ball a bid at a bundle and got it. If half the cigars are good, I've got a little less than a $1.50 each into the good ones. So I really can't complain. If they are all tight and non-smokeable, I won't be upset. I was warned by forum members, well in advance of my purchase, to stay away fro lit rockets. Steve*R

Two words: Draw Poker

Insert piercing rod, let sit for 15 minutes, smoke cigar. Although an overhumid cigar will still taste pretty rank if you ask me. Let the damn things sit in your humidor for a few weeks at a lower humidity. If it's too high inside the box then add more PG to your humistat. This is an easy fix one way or another.
