PRESIDENT BUSH CALLS INTO LIMBAUGH; SAYS AMERICA WILL WIN WAR ON TERROR
Tue Aug 31 2004 16:36:31 ET
President Bush called into Rush Limbaugh 15 minutes ahead of schedule at 1:30 pm EDT calling in from Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday. Limbaugh immediately asked the president about his comments about the War on Terror on the TODAY SHOW on Monday.
"I don't think you can win it," Bush told Matt Lauer. "But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world."
"I should have made my point more clear," Bush told Limbaugh. "What I meant is that this is not a conventional war. The enemy uses terror as a tool... We have to find them where they lurk. We have to stay on the offensive."
"We will win it. But we can't doubt what we stand for."

"Let me address my opponent. He voted for the authorization of force to remove Saddam Hussein..."

"One of the lessons is that we have to deal with the threats before they materialize. By we I mean the United States and the United Nations Security Counsel..."
"Given the lessons of September 11th we decided to remove Saddam after exhausting all diplomacy."
"The troops will be there as long as possible but not a day longer."
"The question is whether we learned our lesson [of 9/11]."
