Maybe we will finally get some honest reporting out of 60 minutes for a change!

"Everything they said about Bush is true; they just haven't found the evidence yet." - Dale Channer, 34, florist, the Bronx.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is a F**Ked up way to think?
Don't bother responding Rick, I already know you agree with it!

If someone could explain to me why the reporting on this is taken at face value even though it is from a "liberal" newspaper but when they print anti-bush stories they are wrong and damn near communists?

Just curious.

why not email the editors and ask them what their thinking?

IMO though Dan Rather and CBS screwed the pooch on this one and should pay the price for it...

Although it this thread came from a liberal newspaper AVB.. it is streached across the news wires from all over the world... liberal or not it's what the reporting on is the question...I could (but not going to waist the time) pull this same print up off a non liberal news site.. and the one that linked me to this thead as you liberals put it is just one of those sites...

Spin again...

AVB,

To answer your question... I haven't seen any other news organizations using "forged and or unauthenticated" documents to question Rather's motives, intentions and ethics. They are simply going with what they as journalists believe should be reported. This is very much unlike Rather and Mapes who had a clear political agenda from the outset. In case you didn't know, Mapes has previously passed information helpful to the Kerry campaign. (Link is easily provided and it ain't from Newsmax or Fox). She also referred her source to the DNC as a part of the bargain.

As for the rest of it... all will be made clear when the CBS appointed board/commission gets to the bottom of it. Kerry better hope their report comes out after the election.

Cheers,

grond

Grond, you assume the "Independent commission" will not turn into another layer of whitewash, pulling smoke and mirrors saying that while the document ARE forged, there is no REAL way to determine that this isn't all a repubican dirty trick made to appear to be a Democratic dirty trick, that simply wasn't caught by the intelligencia of the media because they figured a dummy like Bush would never have the brains to have thought of it!

Imagine for a second if this situation were reversed.

Just imagine if a Bush operative handed CBS some 3rd party documents indicating that Mr. Flip-Flop lied about his war "wounds", or that he falsified his Vietnam "heroics".

Do you think, for one minute, that CBS wouldn't triple check the authenticity and veracity of the documents and their source?

There is a clear double-standard here...and it has a liberal stink all over it!!

CW,

I don't know why CBS hired ****** Thornburgh... he most certainly won't sugarcoat anything. Here's the bios of the two who will investigating. Rather and Mapes should both be very afraid.

"The Honorable ****** Thornburgh, former governor of Pennsylvania and United States attorney general under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and Louis D. Boccardi, retired president and chief executive officer of the Associated Press, will comprise the independent review panel that will examine the process by which a recent "60 Minutes Wednesday" report was prepared and broadcast."
