This weekend was the season opener for ducks and geese (for resident hunters, the out of state guys have to wait until 10/2). It was another good opener.
On Saturday, the gadwals were hot and heavy with a nice sprinkling of teal thrown in. Arrived at the water at 5:45 am and prepared an excellent breakfast of duck sausage and scrambled eggs. After our limit of 18 birds was taken, we packed up and went and chased grouse.
Sunday, we got into a major teal flight pattern. Breakfast at 5:45 again, this time ham steaks and scrambled eggs. Got our 18 bird limit very early.
During the slow times, I enjoyed some Prince Albert out of my special hunting pipe.
All in all a successful weekend. Got today off to paint the baby's room, then will hit it one more day tomorrow.
