Ok We have completed our purchase on the TV, Stereo Surround Sound, Turntable, CD player, DVD player/burner, VCR, CD Rack, cassette deck, fish tank and all the speakers... now comes the tough job... getting al this to fit into one center along with a 125 gal fish tank...

I just completed my drawing on this one and getting ready to apply the elbow grease and thought I would share it with all.... I linked it to a woodworking site I just found a few days ago to add pictures and I will be updating with pictures as I complete each stage until finished... this should take me away from the political posts ;0)~~~

here's the link:

you can click to enlarge the drawing...

Enjoy... I Will!!!! LOL

I am thinking about buying a table saw (entry level approx. $400-600) and could use some advice.

Thanks,

Email on the way...

We haven't settled on the wood yet.. I want to use White Oak because of the look of the grain and it will match with the plywood oak grains... Mrs. Hog is talking possibly Ash??

I want to use a light almost natural finish (Golden Oak) as she does also.. but if you view almost any entertainment center they are darker stained almost a black and I am wondering if there is a logic behind this?

Thanks Hog.

We recently purchased a custom entertainment center. We went with Alder (to save money) and a light cherry finish. Came out fantastic. We have had oak wood pieces for years and wanted a change and we really like the cherry alot.

Don't know if there is a logical reason, besides taste, for dark entertainment centers.

Hog - It looks really nice are you going to put crown molding around the top? Isn't it nice to be able to go into the shop and build a real high quality piece of furniture? I started building custom furniture and cabinets about 7 years ago and it's been a great adventure. There is always something new to build, and there are so many woods and stains to choose from. When I get my new shop done you’ll have to come up for a cookout. Gunflint

I'll point you out to a hell of a deal on some wood... kiln dried to 6% the guy runs his own mill here locally... I wont give out the prices but will say this is the cheapest I found in years...
