If you have an exploding gurkha you would like to share, please feel free to vent here. After combing through some of the threads I noticed that these kinds of posts happen more often then not. My story, well I had 5 gurkha fuerte chruchill's explode on me. Not to mention the ones I gave my brother. He didn't think that it was a very funny joke at all.

Today, I am sad to say a wrapper exited my Gurkha Grand Age Perfecto after only about 1/4 had begun to burn. A very fast death indeed.

On a better note, I'm swimming in the spices of a 601 Maddy right now, but I don't wanna change thread topic.

The other day ... I fired up a Ghurka 'Beast'. I wasn't more than 1/4 into it ... and the damn thing started making a 'popping' and 'crackling' noise.

That sucker burst open and split down the enitre lenght of the cigar.

Very disappointing ... to say the least.

OK ,give it a rest.If there was a real

I know its hard for some of you to believe, but I never had one explode. Of course, I have probably only smoked about 5 or 6 total.

Gurkhas would be great if they let somebody else put the wrapper on their cigars.....they crack, split, explode and just are not good wrappers..

Sorry, where is Nines to say "send them to me"....

I'll say it. Send them to me.

I have had one Gurkha explode on me and it wasn't the nuclear type. The wrapper just started unraveling and a little pectin took care of that problem.

If you don't like the cigars, don't smoke them. Leaves more for me and nine999 and the other guys that want to try them. Thanks for your understanding.

Oh and BTW, I don't want to sound hoidy-toidy, I keep my Gurkhas in a seperate humi with the humidity on the low side (60%). I don't know if that does it or not.

I'm certainly not a Ghurka ho and they are not my favorite by a long shot. But, I've smoked 60-80 over the years and never had a single one explode. I've read the threads and waited for it to happen to me but I've been explosion free.

Couldn't tell you why mine don't explode. Maybe it does have something to do with the humidity. I keep mine between 65-68 with no problems.

Smoked a Nepalese Warrior. Delicious, razor burn, no touch ups. If you guys are having problems with your Gurkha's (which seems to only happen in the coldest and driest time of the year), send them to me. I'll make sure they have a good home

I do the same: have a seperate humi on the lower end, something like 62% or so, no problems UNLESS it extremely cold and dry outside.

^^^Wow - I do the same thing! Gurkhas have their own humi, since they seem to be happier at a lower RH. Even before I segregated them, I've only had one unravel on me, vs/ 5 others of various other brands EXPLODING. I had a 5 Vegas 'A' blow-out so loudly that Beez could hear it in the next room! I DO keep the x fuertes for summer - they do NOT like the transition from their warm, moist humi to the cold, dry winter air.

I've never had a Gurkha explode, but I've had the wrapper of a Nepalese Warrior come unraveled from the head, which was very annoying.

I did have my La Aurora Preferido Lancero explode on me yesterday, though. I kept going, and it burned through the area without too much trouble actually. So it didn't ruin the cigar for me, though it did annoy me considering I seldom pay that much for a stick.

I keep all my cigars between 60 and 65 in my walk in humidor........I keep the Gurkhas in their own area for NINES.....

I have had several Royal Brigades sort of explode. Actually, as the cigar burns into the 60 ring part, they sort of unravel deeply so that binder is exposed. I am not sure that pectin could fix this.

The reason I stopped buying Gurkhas was because of my experience with the infamous X-Ploder, AKA, X-Fuerte.

Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but it looked like Bugs Bunny gave me a loaded cigar.

I smoke at least one Gurkha a day for the last year and have never had one explode, had a Beast unravel on me once but that was it. I also keep them in a seperate humidor between 60-65 so that may be the trick. I usually keep a couple hundred total on hand of all the blends so I dont think ageing has anything to do with it either

why don't you grab two of them outta your humi, and come pay me a visit. we'll have one together, and i'll teach ya how to smoke a gurkha....

you'll thank me later.

Gurkhas don't usually explode except for the fuerte and black puro. All the standard lines (Warrior, WArlord, Beauty, Beast, 1887s, Selects, Shaggies, etc.) don't ever explode. It is just the discount ones that do. And no, I don't think internet cigars are inferior to shpo cigars, so don't start........That said, I don't think I have ever had a bad Gurkha (besides Sherpa/Castle Hall/PArk Ave).

My biggest exploding brand these days is the Tatuaje, which is depressing because they are usually so good.

Yes, I am a Gurkha ho.......
