Now that it's obvious that President Bush has won the election, what are your feelings towards him?
I ask this, because much of your early disdain towards him was focused on your accusation of "selected, not elected".
Assuming Ohio plays out according to the laws of probability, GWB will have won not only the EC votes, but also the Popular Vote.
In fact, I believe he has won the HIGHEST vote total in the history of our great country.

So, I know you won't "like" having him as our President, but can you accept that he is legitimately our elected leader? And can you then offer at least a portion of the respect that his position deserves?

Just curious.

LOL, Rick will never concede either!

Hey, GWB is the FIRST President to win the popular vote since his father. That includes the beloved Clinton.

Will I recognize that he is our legitmately elected leader? Of course. Do I have any more respect for him? Absolutely not. Will he gain more (or any, for that matter) of my respect in the future? That remains to be seen.

RDC,
The first to win a MAJORITY of the popular vote.
Clinton won via the Electoral College, and also by the popular vote. He just didn't eclipse the 50% margin like Dubya has.

I will definitley recongnize GW as the POTUSA. He was voted in fair and square, no question. I will still question decisions that I do not agree with but he the President of my country and as such, gets my support.

While I maintain that the last election was illegitimate, I concede that this election, was won fairly.

As hard as it is for me to say it, it also shows that he wasn't doing everything wrong, at least in the eyes of the majority (slight as it may be) of Americans.

This election is easier to live with, than the last, thanks for askin'

This election has actually come pretty close to being a mirror image of the last one ... that is, GWB quite clearly got a LOT more popular votes than Kerry, but came close to losing in the electoral college ...

Had Kerry received an electoral vote majority, despite losing the popular vote, would you have felt this election to somehow be less tainted than the last???

"can you accept that he is legitimately our elected leader" yes. i never expected there were so many of you.

as soon as i hear from hockeydad, i will pay my hemmingway debt.

"can you then offer at least a portion of the respect that his position deserves?" no, i don't believe in grading on a sliding scale.

Tailgater...kind of a silly question to pose to Mr. Maven. He has repeatedly and quite proudly pronounced his disdain and lack of respect for authority.
The election didn't end up on Ricks terms...so he won't have it in him to respect the office.
