Rick, that is utterly ridiculous and over the top ... even knowing how much you dislike GWB, I cannot imagine that you, of all people, would make such an invidious comparison ...

Earlier today, I expressed sincere sympathy for the way you feel today, but posts such as this one greatly temper my sympathy ...

Rick is simply proving, yet again, that his "feelings" displace any sense of intelligence. In true liberal form, I might add.

He claims this is against freedom? How so? Dubya won a free election. By popular vote and by the Electoral College.
There is no discrepancy this season. No hanging chads. No multiple recounts, and no court orders.

If this isn't freedom, then Ricks version of freedom is simply to do as he alone feels.

I feel sorry for you, my friend.

Truly and deeply.

Poor analogy, and very poor taste, even by your own standards Rick. I agree that you owe the board an apology.

RICKAMAVENs must be very mad today, especially since GW converted many Jewish-American voters (especially in FL)who are simply fed-up with Islamic extremist terrorism.

Too bad RICKAMAVEN can't see the forest from the trees.

Not to smart either, to compare a democratic election in the USA to the Night of Broken Glass!

Here's a touch of history:

So, it appears, the term "Kristallnacht" or "Crystal Night" was invented by Nazis to mock Jews on that black November night in 1938. It is, therefore, another example of Nazi perversion. There are numerous other examples of this same tendency in the language of the Nazi perpetrators: Sonderbehandlung ("special treatment") for gassing victims, Euthanasie for a policy of mass murder of retarded or physically handicapped patients, "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work Makes you Free) over the entrance to Auschwitz. When the Nazis launched their plan to annihilate the remaining Jews in Poland in the fall of 1943, they called it "Erntefest," or Harvest Festival. While this may have been a code word, as Froma Zeitlin has observed, it had the same grim and terrible irony that is reflected in Kristallnacht as in so many other instances of the perverted uses of language in the Third Reich. Perhaps most cynical of all is the use of the term, "Endloesung der Judenfrage" (Final Solution of the Jewish Question), for what is now known as the Holocaust. Goebbels frequently used such terminology to amuse his audiences (usually other Nazi officials) and to further demoralize his victims.

Thanks Rick...your absolute hatred of the American public...who have spoken in the last election...places you in the same boat.

I know you are of Jewish heritage, but you have lost any shred of respect many here ever had of you or your convictions. I think there might be a few fringe groups out there you can join...or create your own.

I think the majority here are going to agree... that comment and comparison sucked. You should sit back...maybe pull out a copy of Anne Frank and remember that there is nothing in the U.S. to ever compare to Kristallnacht.

The Germans also coined the word "Gemutlichkeit".

Share the spirit of Gemutlichkeit -- the German word for hospitality and warm welcome.

I'm serious when I say this.

Have you considered psychological counseling and/or antidepressant medication to treat your obsessive hate for our President (if you haven't already done so)?

Really, it is not physically or mentally healthy to live with such irrational, abject rage for one person/party.

talking about your wife. as i said earlier, though, you ask for it. maybe now you'll reconsider being so callous. some take it personal, and they'll make it personal for you. it's not worth the bizarre pleasure you derive from angering these folks anymore is it?

ok i look for trouble and lo and behold i find a bug crawls out from under a rock with the only post he has made, pajama94us.

actually my posts did not start out originally the way they are percieved now.

this board is priomarily a bunch of religious zealots and right wing zealots.

lots of people didn't like what i had to say, but no one resorted to vulgarity or personal attacks. they just said i was wrong, and wrong at the top of my voice (spencer tracy, "bad day at black rock")

a few of the dogs of war, who had little to offer except profanity, started things off and then guys that used to argue with me started the personal attack.

my attacks were directed at the administration, not at people on the board.

and so scum like pajama94us thinks he can sneak in and say something nasty about my wife. he can't and if he does again, assuming he has not moved on, i will have him removed from the boards. i doubt that, that is acceptable posting.

if we ever got back to civil disagreements, someone may learn something.

bloody spaniard has turned me into a conservative. i learned something.

when someone tries to invoke "the wrath of god", or quotes from the bible, i usually i bite my lip and try not to insult their beliefs. sometimes i lose a little. rest assured that only what few good senses of reason i have, keep my responses somewhat under control. with all the people telling me about their god, and why i should accept and convert, i have not
tried to convert anyone to my point of view about a god. i have just said i have no need for a god, not that they shouldn't believe in their god.

i'll take my credit for that much regardless of what others may think or say.

I disagree. I don't consider myself a right-winged fanatic, either. In fact, I'm an atheist. I do, however, respect those things that are sacred to others. That's what seperates me from Rick. I don't agree with everything Bush does. I agree some of the more important things. I'll NEVER disparage those that have sacrificed to insure I keep the right to disagree with Bush. Rick lacks the respect he commands from others. He doesn't like someone talking about his wife, but he has no problem insulting what others consider off limits.

The election is over. We should talk about football, the hockey strike, or something else. Otherwise, people are going to keep getting pissed at each other.

What kills me here, is that Rick's unabashed, deep-seated, Mordor-born, hate and disgust of GW, is no different than 18delta's spew against liberals! So why don't all you conservatives jump on delta when he goes over the top? I think it is because, deep down, you support some the feelings being expressed. (As if liberals have cornered the market on emotion-driven political discussion! Ha!) I am assuming here, that Rick feels that since he is of Jewish heritage, then it is his perogative to use analogies from their history to express how he is feeling, a taboo for most of us, given the enormity of that event. Which brings me to the final point, which is, as much as I am dismayed by Bush being re-elected...Things are not THAT bad Rick. We can survive another 4 years, and the system is still in-tact enough that we can go back and correct any big problems that are created. And, after all, this election, Bush did win by a majority, and I believe that.

lofty1.... I hear you... and I want to recognize that the conservatives, military specifically, think that what Rick has abused here is honor for the sacrifice of the faces on the board... even though, Rick said that this is clearly not his intention.

Speaking as someone who's jousted with Rick over politics for years, I can assure you that he is a genuinely warm and caring human being ... I have no doubt of that whatsoever ...

While his political views and mine are about as divergent as is possible, I have never doubted the genuineness (oh, that doesn'nt sound at all right and probably isn't a real word) of his care for other people, even we of the more conservative persuasion ... he has no mean bones and no feelings of personal hatred.

I understand how he feels about the outcome of the election ... had the results been different, my feelings would be quite similar to what his are now.

It is my hope that we ... ALL of us ... can somehow NOT personally attack one another ... it'd probably be better if we followed the age old advise and didn't discuss religion or politics ... not possible, perhaps, but we'd be better off if it were possible.
