so long for awhile,
that's all the song's for awhile.
so long from your hit parade,
and the music you pick to be played.
sooooooooo loooooong.

friends, republicans, and country men, especially those who have suggested i leave the country,
toby and i bid a temporary adieu, as we leave for vegas in our never ending quest to hit a royal
flush, without dueces, on a five nickele pull of the handle, the pull of the handle being a figure of
speech, the handle having been replaced with a button that i push to spin the wheels instead, in
hopes for the BIG prize of 4,000 nickles, a king's ransom for all nickle gamblers.

oh ever ellusive BIG prize, baby needs a new pair of shoes, so, one time for daddy.

we have moved gamine, our rose brested cockatoo, our, gala as her specie is also called, zana, our african grey, or feather picker, as her specie is sometimes known, our canary, with no name, and our gouldian finch, also with no name, and, lest i forget, face, our 2 pound, fully grown, netherland dwarf rabbit, the color and marking of a sealpoint siamese, to my office for the care and feeding by my son bradley, who will be starring in a musical called "it's a wonderful life" playing the jimmy stewart part, if jimmy stewart had starred in a musical of "it's a wonderful life." alas, we will miss his opening night, a very rare occurance, but the leonids exhibition is expected to start on the 15th,

http://www.hometown.aol.com/theleonids/index.html

and we shall leave the city of las vegas each night and drive an hour south to where evidence of civilization will be gone and only the stars will shine, many of them trailing across the sky, much like man's feeble attempt to immitate them with firecrackers.

there we will sit in two folding chairs, made in china, with our puerto rican coffee, toby with her
cigarettes, me with my cigars, from the DR, and a
6 cylinder, fully loaded, 35 year old, when they
were made well, heavy, and solid, smith and wesson 38 police special, made in the usa, should civilization attempt to intrude upon us in the form of roadside bandits, with our heads back and our eyes open to watch the heavens perform for us, as they did three years ago for ross and his new bride, jessica, on their first married night in catalina. he told her she would see stars, and he did not fail her.

we will miss all our pets, and i will miss JonR, but there is a petting zoo in vegas, so my tactile
sensability and my emotional well being will only be diluted, not completely shut off.

before i go, i pose a question to my christian bretheren. i won't be checking the boards for a week, so think long and hard, your answers may determine your fate.

the greater your leap of faith to accept Christ as your personal savior, the more difficult it will be
for you to accept the premise of my question, but if you can, see what flows from your psyche.

imagine for a brief moment, there is no Christ, no redemption, no heaven or hell, nothing after you
die.

how would your life change and what would you do differently tomorrow and the rest of your life.?

and asking me how my life would change and what i would do differently if there was a Christ, is begging the question, not answering it.

Not really sure how to answer you on this one Rick, other than to say, Good Luck.

According to exit polls, 25% of Jewish voters voted Republican (for Bush), a continuation of a 20 year upward trend. Orthodox Jews voted heavily for Bush, followed by (religiously) Conservative Jews. The trend was much less evident among Reform Jews, and non-existent among Reform females over 52 and short, bald, over-65 Brooklyn transplants living in California.

Rape, pillage, kill babies, cheat at Yahtze, that sort of thing. And I'd keep all those cheap, Dollar Store Christmas gifts for myself.

Wow. Rick is packed so he can kill bandits. That's not a very liberal thing to do. You should share your wealth with them. Feel their pain.

Seriously, though, I am jealous. I could use some time in the quiet night to ponder my future, since I have custody of my step-kid's baby now. Starting fatherhood all over again at age 45. Talk about putting in your nickle and pulling the handle ...

No change at all for me. Each normal human being is imbued with free will, the ability to choose good or evil. That is what makes us different from the harrier apes. Now you can argue how it got there and which religion or belief fits your view of it, but there it is.

Think about that as you gaze at those heavenly bodies, set aside the human frailty of ego and be aware of Gods presence.

Yo Rick:

May you and Toby have a healthy, happy, and prosperous vacation.

In your absence I have hired an old coot to picket in front of my house carrying a "BUSH MUST GO" sign.

JonR

Ps: If my parents named me "Snooky", I think I would beat the hell out of them on a daily basis.

Rick ...

Hope you and Toby have a pleasurable stay in the desert ... hope you win at whatever games of chance you choose to play... I know well the pleasure of a fine cigar under that stellar light show and you have my best wishes for a clear night sky during your stay ...

It'll be a bit more quiet here in your absence ... and like parents who think they'll enjoy some peace and quiet by getting away from the kids, we'll find we actually miss your provocative input and will warmly welcome you back when you return.

Until then ... my personal best to the two of you

May I suggest aride up the ET hi-way o the Ale-ien Bar in Rachel, Nev and stop in the store(the only one in this town of 86) and say hi to Fay Day the lovely eighty- something bride of the towns founder. It is a fun trip with several surprises including possible aliens. Have drink and a cigar as you view the wall of celebrities and find possible evidence of a government conspiracy and cover up at area 51,(right up your alley). Man i wish i could join you as i love this trip.

Dan,
Don't take this wrong, but it is mighty presumptuous that YOUR god created everything.
Of all the beliefs and religions, maybe they are the same god on alot of the same religions?
Is your religion the only right religion?

Sometimes it is wiser to view things from different angles.

Rick,
how would your life change and what would you do differently tomorrow and the rest of your life?

Nothing. I grew up with traditional american indian beliefs.

dog's have a strange sense of time. she will greet us in a few weeks the same as she does if we are gone for several hours.

Opatience, never taken wrong and always look forward to a reply like yours. I don't know much about religion but I know my relationship with Jesus Christ. He is who he say's He is. I know American Indians believe in a one God, my wife is part American Indian on both sides of her family. That makes my children part American Indian and I'm very proud of that. There is nothing more in life that I want to do is introduce my lord and savior the one and only God to all that ask. Sometimes this takes time so if you want to pursue the truth here's my email, I will respond. dandapper at adelphia dot net , Dan
