I thought I'd change the subject a little for some of us older and narrow minded Cub fans.
"Despite rumors and speculation swirling about where he will be playing next season, Sammy Sosa, according to his agent Adam Katz, expects to remain with the Cubs and that his relationship with Dusty Baker is 'manageable.'"
Quote taken from Cubs.mlb.com lead story.
As a 40 year Cub fan, I'm not sure how to really react any more to Sammy Sosa. I'd love for him to be the "Slammin' Sammy" of old, but I tink those days are gone. Since he stopped shootin' up the roids a year or so ago, he's lost weight, lost bat sped, lost his timing, and saddest of all, he's lost his credibility and the faith of millions of Cub fans. He didn't even suit up for the last game of the regular season, and he bailed 15 minutes into the game.
AS IF HE OWED LEGIONS OF CUB FANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Sammy, you've given me years of excitement, great times in front of the TV, great competitiveness, and a huge smile has always been on your face. What changed this year to make you dislike us so? Do we ask too much of you? You didn't even come out of the dugout to tell us goodbye. If it's true you are staying around, I hope it's not just to collect your $16 million this year. I hope it's to be a leader on and off the field. I hope you have a great year, and we want you to be a lifelong CUB. We're a forgiving bunch. Give us a reason to forgive you.
I'd like to hear from the rest of the CUB nation out there. Oh, BTW, congrats to Barry Bonds. Just goes to show ya, ...Oh, I guess that's being addressed in the other post.
