I have heard a great deal about aging lately. I have always kept my cigars in a humidor but I usually dont wait to long to smoke them. How long should I let a box of puros indios #4 colorado claro age before smoking? At what point will they be the best? I think they are a great cigar right now. From experience ladies and gents, how long would you age them? Aberdeen, you said you liked these and the toro's, how long do you let them age?

The great thing about Puros Indios is that most often you can smoke these out of the box and they will be delicious. The big exception is during the Hondruan rainy season which is during the fall here. I bought a box of Toros last year at that time and they were terrible, and needed to be aged at least three months to dry out as it may, and I am still working on that box and they are great now. So I usually stock up on these cigars during this time of year or the winter. But otherwise to get a good taste from these cigars you can often smoke them right away, but aging makes them even better. I smoked a 2 year old PI Robusto a few months ago that I forgot I had, and it was simply beyond belief, the explosive flavor, but so very very smooth.

I find the PI line are very good straight from the box as well. Aging in my experience only enhances the finer intracacies a cigar has to offer. Such as draw, ash color, and even burn I think can be affected by aging your gars'. It is just a practice I do with all my cigars, from my hand me outs to my favorite expensive puros.

This subject came up before.I have been aging Puro Indios #4s for several months now on the advice of several others on this board.I did this because the cigars were inconsistent in flavor but not in draw.Unforunately I cannot tell you when they are "officially" aged...I am still waiting.

Do I thank you guys or not? I received a 5-pack of PI's only weeks ago -- Aberdeen's tantalizing description makes me want to wait a while. Gratification is best when it is first deprived! (I think my wife sometimes utilizes this principle.)

aging can be a guessing game, with the Toros I mentioned earlier, I suffered through some bad ones, until they started getting better. Try one of the Especial's you have soon, see if you notice an improvement in the taste, if so, you know you are getting somewhere, and the taste will only keep getting better.

I would smoke the maduros right out of the box. This cigar is solid although you must get acclimated to the salty taste.
