I just recently found this site and already I'm becoming a daily (sometimes 4 or five times a day) visitor. It looks like there is a pretty good mix of folks who make and respond to comments so I figure I'll ask a question and see anyone can help me make a decision on a humidification system for my cigar cabinet. It's about 18 cubic feet. I'm currently using a crude system of PG and distilled water. I have a couple of large pyrex bowls with sponges that serve as the humistats. It actually works pretty good (RH stays around 68%) but I wanted to get something a little more advanced. I've been reading some of the previous threads and see that some of you have cabinets. What do you use and would you recommend them? Thanks.

First I would get rid of the passive system you are using and move to a active system. This will serve several needs. One, it will be more consistant. Two, the better active systems have built in fans to circulate the air.
Second, here is the name of two very good companies who will sell you a system to fit your needs. The first is Vigilant, Inc (www.vigilantinc.com). They have several systems that they sell, and can help with cabinet conversion if you purchase you humidifier from them. Ask for Mr. Steve Huntoon at 1-888-812-4427. Another company you can contact is CMT, Inc. They are on the web, but I am not sure of the site name. They provide the systems to many of the better cabinet makers. Their selection is very diverse. The number is 1-800-659-9140.
Both of these companies will promtly send out info. Good luck! Berry

You could also buy a cabinet and build your own humidifying device with a humidistat and a room humidifier, I have a homemade one in one of my units and it works great!
