Hanukkah means "dedication," and it commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after its desecration by foreign forces. The celebration also reaffirms the continuing struggle to live by God's commandments.

So, dapperdan, how must we live by God's commandments?

Happy Hanukkah to you too.
Last night I lit a Padron Londres for the first night. Not exactly at sunset, but it was lit and enjoyed!

I had the opportunity to listen to a brief history of Hanukkah on World Net Daily's radio broadcast yesterday. WOW! What a tremendous story that is. Having been a Christian for as long as I can remember I had heard the story of Hanna and her sons but never the entire story all the way up to and through the candles that burned for 8 days that should've only lasted a day. That portion of the story is sadly the only part most people know. I highly encourage anyone who doesn't know the story of Hanukkah to research it.

Happy Hanukkah indeed.
