Pedro, no longer a member of the Red Sox.

I've been an advocate of trading him for a couple of years now - could have built up the minor league system, which is needed.

Now he's gone, without any compensation - except for some extra spending money.

Oh well.

There's an extremely good article on ESPN.com this morning on this very subject that offers some great insight into this deal ... it's recommended reading for any who have an interest in the subject ...

So, are the Mutts trying to outdo and overpay like Georgie and the Yanks? You figured with a new GM, they would get a clue. Had to give him that fourth year. Too much money for Pedro, IMO.

Pedro was starting to suck. We dumped him just in time, I think. Now... lets go get some young pitchers so we can smack the Yankees down some more. :-)

I agree that Pedro was starting to suck. On and off the field.

Just wish we could've gotten something for him.

I've enjoyed watching Pedro in his prime....but four years is way to long for his shoulder to hold up. I'm glad the sox are done with him. Now the Sox can move on and find someone to fill the #2 spot in the rotation.

The Mets got stuck with an aging superstar on his way down.

At least the sox get compensation for Pedro with the sandwich picks in the next draft.
Maybe Manny to the Mets will be the next big deal.

First I am a Yanks fan. Growing up in Columbus I went to CLippers (Yanks AAA team) and then got to watch the players with the Yanks. But I am not a Boston basher at all, I think they are a very good team. It was tough watching them beat the Yanks and all. But they earned the Series.

I am so very happy to see Pedro go. His attitude on and off the field was not good for the team. And his arm is not what it used to be, now he can go stink up the Mets for us.
