The response time and time to enter something on this site is atrocious! It is by far the slowest I have encountered, and others have pointed this out! I call em like I see em and I give kudos to CBid all the time, but this is now ridiculous! NEED TO ADDRESS THE SERVER ISSUES HERE!

Charlie

I had our webmaster check the server and all appears to be fine.
Continue to keep us posted if there are more delays or any failures.

there are a couple things that are making this site slow.

1) There was a change to the bidding form a couple months ago that changed the from a single page that you now type your password on another page. That page then redirects you back to the orginal bidding page. This change increased the bandwidth and server useage per bid probably 3X.

2) The search all messages feature is another killer. I hope CBid hosts the forum on server(s) that are not used by the auction side.

3) I also hope they are hosting the webpage on a separate box then the MSSQL backend running this, if they aren't I highly recommend that do some SQL tuning. If the SQL and IIS/Apache (or whatever webserver they use.. haven't been that nosey to figure it out) is running on the same box then they need to test keeping SQL from running on CPU 0 (and if it's not running on a multi proc box, then god help us...)

4) And all of the above is useless if they don't have enough bandwidth... someone else can give more detail on this.

5) If CBid needs help with this just let me know. I can also write some scripts that will just knock the crap out of it for testing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices Cbids inconsitant internet load times. I thought it was just at peak times (like 5 PM or 8 AM) but it doesn't seem to matter. I was on last night at 10 PM (pacific) and I went to another site because it was taking forever to load. Plus that double (or more) post thing... Look, I know that you all are doing what you can for your customers when it comes to service, consider upgrading this site a part of quality service. If upgrading this site is not in your plans for 2005, please change your plans.

*whew* there, I feel better now. I'm going out now to have a smoke.
