Where can I buy ISOM cigars? I’m looking for a reliable authorized Internet site that has been able to guarantee deliver to the U.S. after 9-11. If anyone wants to share his or her favorite sites please e-mail me at [email protected].

Merlyn-I don't really know. I guess the real trick is not getting caught by US Customs trying to get them in the US. I get mine yearly from Cuba on mission trips down there. Maybe someone else can help you. If you live near the Canadian border I guess cross over and smoke a few from time to time. Good Luck. BTW- I find that Cubans are no better than some Hondurans and Nic's out there. I guess it is the elusiveness of the product.

My limited experience with the few that have been gifted to me confirms what mtsheron says - the ISOM's are not necessarily better than the Nics and Hondurans. One I was given this week came in from Mexico and was not very good at all (no band, and possibly a fake, but the guy who stocked up was promised they were genuine!). I think it was the infamous (to this board, at least) Lew who noted recently that pre-embargo, only about 1% of cigars sold in the US were Cubans, so it must be the elusiveness that keeps us wanting them.

If you do decide to purchase them in Canada (which I would not do), be ready to pay a hefty price for them... they have one of the highest "sin" taxes anywhere...Last time I went to Canada, a Cohiba Robusto was priced around $70 USC (a STICK)...Monte #4s were around $40 USC (again, a STICK)...THere are reputable places online and I'm sure someone will give you some URLS...When traveling, stick with La Casa Habanos (which from what I remember is Cuban government owned or ran, so they can guarantee authenticity)..Good luck!

I was given a Jose L. Piedro ISOM (5.5 x 42ring) that I smoked new years day. It was great: rich, fullflavored and melt in your mouth creamy smooth. it had come from Canada where his wife regularly makes business trips and brings back Cubans. These little gems were 10 cigars for $200!!!!!!! For that money I will buy a box of premium LEGAL cigars that taste as good. But I will never turn down a freebie! Steve

WOW!...I also purchased a five pack of the Jose Piedras (they're all machine bunched I believe) while in Canada and only paid about $24-$25!...This was walking distance from Niagara Falls, Ont too!

This is no lie ... just remebber that 95% of the so called Cubans out there are counterfiet ...

I don't care what anyone trys to tell you ... it's true. What you were smoking (unless you are experienced in Habanas) was probably fake. Real Cubans have a taste that is unmisakeabley good. There is just nothing that compares to it.

But, I firmly believe what some others have said here. There are many legal cigars the are just as good, if not better!
