I know im new to the forum , but ive been placing bids for about 4 months! I know o bers serve their purpose(letting cigar bid sell cigars so low) but it sucks when for 3 days u have #1 bids, and you get outbid by someone who over-pays what your local cigar store sells it for!

It does suck, and frequently. Be patient and you will make some great buys. And bless the overdidders that keep me from over buying and not having to convert my garage to a drive in humidor.

If your being outbid that late in the game, I can only conclude that you are also overbidding! So why complain Mr. Hi-Class?

81supporter. I'm trying to figure out your tag. Here's my guess. 81 is the year you were born. Supporter means that you're an athletic supporter. Am I right?

I give up. Are you a priest of the Shao-lin Temple? Or maybe the Imperial Wizard? Give us a clue.

Ok, who is the wise guy trying to reinvent some "newbie" just to hack everyone off! If the price is too high just wait till another lot comes up.....we have beaten this subject up and it needs to go away! Charlie

81SUPPORTER: re overbidders. many bidders don't cruise the web checking prices on cigars they want or sometimes, they are willing to overspend on a five pack because they don't want a box. sometimes they will overbid because they have heard about a certain brand and they want to try it. an extra dollar on a 5 pack is only 20 cents on a cigar. there is also the competition to win that drives guys to overbid or double their next bet to recover their loses. cbid, a for profit company, does to refer to it as overbidding, nor should they.

Damn, 1500 cigars, I have 5 humidors and the most I have ever had at one time would be 250 or so! My wife would kill me if I even attempted to stock up like that......maybe use the "War" as an excuse or something! Charlie

Its hard to know if you are overbidding for your region. I have found a stick thats 28 bucks in Ore. and only 12.50 in NY.

where I live, cigars start at 4.99 (Don Tomas corona) and go up from there. and forget about ever seeing anything good like Hemmingway, Indian Tabac, or Perdomo. so there is almost no such thing as an overbidder. besides that, the overbidders make sure that I stay married (by keeping me from using my credit card until it, and my wife, start screaming).

I guess that did sound wrong. I meant that my credit card would start screaming because it was being used so often. my wife would start screaming because I was using my card so often. Rick: wrong board?

Overbidding?...is that like the guy who is bidding $65.00 for the empty box of Hoya 135th Anniversary robustos? I mean its a cool cigar box, but $65.00 just for the box?!!! Way too funny!

now that i have both of you here, i screwed up again, what i ment to write to cal was i have had a false start on this board since i've been trying to bs with you guys, sometimes (I) shoot off my mouth before (MY) brain is loaded, especially with the topic of overbidding...sheegzs i'll never bring that up again! so rick it was nothing against cal it was about me! FYI im 6-3 340lbs the keyboard is very small to me and i dont always hit the keys i want to. ill try harder

81SUPPORTER: i am 5'1" and weigh 212. if you can find me lets get it on. you are in like flynn and everyone likes you. do you have a tee shirt that says "death before dishonor.?" i was on a bike once in 1961 and i dumped it. it was a crosley sold by sears. my buddy has a kawasaki something or other, you know a rice grinder. he says it will and he has done 100+. when i looked at it, i haven't been on a bike since 1961, i broke out in a cold sweat. i tried to get on it and i froze. years ago i wrote insurance on two bikes. one guy lost most of his brain (he was a pro racer), and the other one lost a leg. do you think i give bad luck to bikers?
