There might not be any bad cigars, but there as sure some pretty nasty characters. Right now I have a box - three of Legion Churchills which are so bad they prompted me to post a thread about them. New solution for that expense: Soak one or two overnight in a solution of witch hazel and distilled water (doesn't matter how much of each). Remove and discard cigars. Pour solution (through one toe of a worn panty hose) into an empty plastic spray bottle (recycled Windex will do). Apply light spray to delicate house, yard and vegetable plants as one of the most effective insect repellants ever made. Good gardening. Another solution: Gag gift for for your ex-wife's new boyfriend.

Hey if you have those hamiltons send em to me, they are not a bad smoke for the likes of fishing or camping.

The worst was my first - Lone Wolf Robusto - from a famous mail order house in Tampa. A trifecta - first, wrorst and most overpriced, all in one box.

As far as boxes go, I've been fortunate. The worst box I've purchased never was a dogrocket: Gisperts.

A box of Fighting **** Smokin' Lulus from CI. Like used cat litter rolled in mildewed newspapers. No, I think that would be an improvement.

Man, I've bought some real losers over the years. Reading over the threads, I've tried almost all of the dog rockets listed above and concur on Wall Streets and Lone Wolf's. Let me add a box of JM Santana's and a bundle of JR Alternatives to the list. Only cigars I've ever thrown away!

Hugo Sassar and VM Santana which is the absolute worst, I was shocked to see these cigars featured on the back cover of the new CI catalog, think of your reputation guys selling this crap. Also add in Mayan, Lone Wolf was actually tolerbale if you compare to Santana, luckily I was only stuck with a five pack of Lone Wolf.

The Fidalgo Negros are pretty bad. When I finished one of those I had so much maduro dye on me I looked like I was dressing up for a minstrel show.

One surprise in the above responses ...

Legion was not mentioned until the 10th response ...

Absolute worst cigar, bar none, I've ever tried ...

Got a box of these about a year ago ... lit one and kept hoping it'd smooth out part way through, but NOOOOO ... it got worse ... by the time I nubbed it (a robusto size nub) I was easily able to say it was by far the worst smoke I ever tried ...

Amazingly, I gave one to my neighbor and he liked it ... I thought he was either BSing me or being incredibly polite, but then a few weeks later, he actually asked if I had another ... difficult as it was to do, I did not burst into laughter, but said, "hey, let me take a look" ...

Through the spring, he raved about them so much, I got wondering if a few months in the humi had been some sort of magic-wand turn around on these guys ... I sent one as an "extra" in a trade I'd made and smoked one myself, anticipating something good had happened to them ... BBBZZZZZZZZZTTTTTTTTTT !!!!! W R O N G !!

Can't remember who I sent that awful stick to ... whoever it was never said a word ... unless he's got an indiscriminate neighbor like mine, I'm sure he used it for bug repellant or just tossed it out ... thought the neighbor had smoked the last of them before he went off to the national police academy in August, but I find I've still got one ... only one. At last, the last one ... I'm thinking it will be a nice gift to the neighbor this weekend when we get together to celebrate his successful completion of a difficult training ... he'll bring a glass of his boxed wine and I'll give him the Legion cigar ... and we'll both be happy.

I bought a bundle or The Repeater in 1996. Awful, tasted like ammonia. They also claimed it was medium filler, what ever b.s. that means. hmmm.... Cuban Sandwiches. I bought a bundle of those in 1996 too, they are awful. I don't buy many boxes, nor did I as a hs and college student back then.

Funny that many 5 packs that I first bought on this site are being mentioned as worst boxes. Ham House mad robusto isn't too bad though.

I bought a box of Cuban Cohibas that are the smaller size than the Lanceros. You thought your Lanceros were plugged Rick. I have one of these left and it is the size of a short pencil and just as hard. But, The one or two puffs you can get from it are mighty nice. The Torpedos are much better. Could only afford 10 of those.

I bought a box of La Estrella Cubana before CI got em. Most of those were plugged and had very little flavor.
I guess you can't complain when you get a box for $18 bucks.

Bought a box of Thomas Hinds Vintage Robustos off of CB for $18... Half the draw as a lincoln log, and half the flavor.

LOL,don't worry about E-chick but MrMean can be mighty sensative at times.

Hmmmm worst box? Espinosa's come to mind,Lone Wolf and though I've never bought a box I find Baccarat's to be just dry and nasty tasting.

I did once buy what I thought was a box but have it (to my surprise) turn out to be a tubo... Not good times in the land of cheap tequila and cheaper escorts.

Anything in the description that starts with:

"During the cigar boom this baby was one of the best .... often sold for $100's per box ..... and now we're making them available for a limited time at just $12."

You know the drill. That's a sure fire way to make this list. My worst was a Bacchus Lonsdale and yes the ad started out that way. Open mouth, enter big gigantic hook.

I haven't had a bad experience with a box , although I have bought many 5-paks from CI and the absolutly disgusting worst was a "Lars Tetens " knock-off aromatic cigars. These cigars are horrid ! and you wouldn't believe the way they look unwrapped, what garbage !

A neighbor of mine stopped me and wanted to know how to "store" a cigar until he wanted to smoke it!!!! I figured he must be talking about an ISOM or Padron or CAO or something like that! Well, turns out he had been given a Lone Wolf Torpedo by one of his associates........NOW WHAT TO SAY??? OMG!!!! Well, I was honest and told him "the trash can was a suitable storage container or maybe just throw it in his golf bag for a couple of months"! He was not a cigar smoker and we both broke out laughing about the Lone Wolf as I told him the "history" of the little Jim and Chuck bombs!

God, I am so glad I could be honest about it as he asked another neighbor (cigar smoker) and got pretty much the same response!

I've got a box of Bohios in my cabinet. Worst dog rockets I've ever tried to smoke. Kinda tastes like wet grass (the lawn kind) smells. I keep them around for the guys who like to smoke but never like to buy their own.

Original Oynx line..churchill size. What a box of crap those were. Tightest draw I've ever encountered, almost collapsed a lung smoking one. Hard to believe since the reserve line is so tasty.

Canario d Oro Inmensos

I put almost a year of humi-time into these with no luck; you take a dog rocket and put it away for a while and all you have is an older dog rocket...

Tamayo Y Pareto churchill maduros. Same color as purple cabbage. A decent cigar may get better over time. A bad cigar takes up valuable space.
