What do you prefer to drink with your favorite cigar? Does the drink change with a different cigar?

As for me, I have yet to develop a preference. I am just as happy with a beer, port, even a coke with my Monte or Diego.

Single Malt Scotch is my first choice, specifically Laphroiags. After that it's a toss, I really like cognac, most of the popular VSOP's, A good stout, Stoly neat or a dry Befeeter martini. As you see the choice is a difficult one and no I don't think I have a problem!

Mr Mean: on an old thread you were going to give us an opinion of a diesel. I await your view.

I like a good English bitter or a strong cup of coffee. But have been known to stoop to diet coke or gatorade if the pickings are slim.

Jazzy, what do you consider a good port? Do you prefer a Tawny or Ruby? Is the ruby any good the next day or two? And oh yeah, I'm a cheap **** so keep 'em on the lower price scales. Thanks.

I'm a cheap sob. So I shop the hell out of my liquor (kind of like my cigars). A GREAT port for the money is Galway Pipe Tawny Port (Australian) which is aged 12 - 15 years. Amazing. As a really nice cognac, I like Planat V.S. (beats most of the expensive VSOP's on the market hands down).

Sandeman 20 year tawny is superb, but $9.50 a glass at the local tavern.

I had an Excalibur 1066 and some Home Brewed Stout over the weekend, that was pretty good. One of my fav's is a Partags culebra (ISOM) and any of the sweeter dark Rums on the rocks(Mount Gay or Bacardi Select)yeah these are pretty domestic but the combo works for me. Another Favorite is any VSG and a real nice sipping Tequila!Cuervo Traditional comes to mind,it comes in a tall, skinny round bottle with white label(not the basic square bottle Cuervo crap).

If you shake ripple, can it be called a wake? Sorry....I'm a beer man myself with an occasional Scotch or B&B.

Beer no good for me, since I schluck it down too fast. Hard liquor may make my head spin before the ligero does. Port is the king. Any port is better than no port. Almost. Try a few dashes of Angostura bitters on your diet coke when booze wont do. Makes it taste like Moxie.

Obviously not a heart or cholesterol problem in this bunch. When you're knocking back Lipitor you can't hit the booze. For years I homebrewed beer -- nothing like untaxed pop with the foam on top. But all that's over. Now it's near beer and nothing stronger. Even drinking black coffee is living on the edge for me. But if I did say to hell with doctor's order I'd enjoy Taylor's New York Port, a peaty Scotch (neat) or Tequila and tonic. Has anyone tried Arturto Fuente's coffee?

eleltea: and yesterday I read that now they doubt aspirin has the beneficial effect it's supposed to have. I had a diabetic friend who loved PEZ. He collected the funny dispensers and tossed or gave the candy away. It was a passion. Coffee and cigars...it's a passion.
