What does it mean when there is a description of a cigar as being "toothy" or "chewy"? Is "toothy" a good thing? If a smoke is "chewy" is it good?

IMHO most descriptions of the various cigars given by the various experts are so subjective as to render them useless. As an example, there are actually people out there that like Lone Wolf cigars. I personaaly would not rate them high enough to consider them cigars. IMHO. ( well maybe not so humble) cj

I'm still trying to figure out "cloying", not to mention "long" or "short" finish. All the cigars that I really like, I smoke to the smallest nub possible. Does that mean they have a "short" finish? The real key is to know what you like, find it, and smoke it. Then you can make up your own terminology to describe your favorites. Barry

Take a look at your cigars. Some of them will have numerous little bumps (very, very, small) all over the wrapper. This is called "tooth." I'm not sure if it impacts the flavor at all, but it seems to me the more toothy the wrapper, the better experience I've had with the cigar.

Not sure about "chewy" but I think he was partners with Hans Solo.
