Normally I'd let new cigars rest for 3 months but curious to try this one so have had it for only a month.

Edit: Good potential. Early spice but not overpowering. At least a couple of interesting transitions. Mebbe a little overpriced but that opinion could change with more rest.

75876 - Privada La Veguita by Montenegro lancero. A tale of two cigars. For a little more than half, it was really good. An unusual profile that made me take notice. Montenegro had another hit.
Unusually good. A little after the halfway point, it turned into one of the vilest, bitterest, most disgusting things I've had in my mouth since the last time I was in Las Vegas. Had to toss it and go get some chocolate and gargle with salt water.

75877 - MoW Little Devil corona. Fine. Not unusually good, but it also didn't taste like Leprechaun @ss.

When a cigar turns bitter like that, is it tar?

Almost always tar, check the head, you see a spot that looks kinda dark and wet, cut the head back, problem will instantly resolve (assuming you cut enough to get rid of the build up). Usually from smoking to fast, but sometimes thems just the breaks. I've had it happen with various cigars, from some cheapie to AF Hemingway, so I wouldn't go making and rash decisions like putting the cigars in the compost or something.

There was a period of time when, since I had it happen a lot more during the summer, and I smoke outside , in Florida and thus put my trust in DEET, I thought it was cause I somehow got some DEET on the wrapper.

I dug it out of the trash, and yes, black wet spot. I cut the head like you said, and don't see any more. Might fire up the rest as an experiment. If I can screw up the courage.

I'm a slow smoker. My problem is not going so slow that they go out too much.

EDIT: Yeah, I burned it, and the rest tasted fine. ThumpUp

Lanceros can be a bit more susceptible to it, so just watch for that. I'd suggest letting them rest for longer at 65% and then they bought to be fine. If you are gonna pull Hnixon and smoke ROTT maybe some dry box time.
