The last two orders I made, I purposely purchases (won bids) on the weekend so they would ship Monday. In both cases, it took over a week to get the box. That basically sucks.

Since they do not double wrap the cigars, they show up hot and brittle.

What do you have to do to get decent shipping? I want USPS priority all the time.

Seems like you must have your shipping option set to "weekly". Shipments go out on Thursday. They arrive on Saturday or Monday. The daily shipments are normally pretty fast. Hot and Brittle? Mine usually come pretty moist and I wait at least a month before I smoke them. Must be the brand you ordered. I like to order several lots over a week to get the most from my shipping dollar.

Now we are getting somewhere. You were right. I will change my settings. I never took the time to read the policy. Thanks for the response.

when I first read this post I thought someone was Joking here.. I have mine set to ship all on Fridays.. that way it only costs one shipping charge for all my weekly Impulses/Bids..Now I see a post like this one.. LMFAO!!! from a Rocket Launcher ?? I have only Had one Occassion where I have had to call customer service and that was on a coffee Mug I had purchased 4 and one got Broken in Shipping they sent me a new one out ASAP.. as far as Cigars Being too dried out when recieved I would have to say it was do to the Mailman mail service not CB..I do Believe CB customer service keeps the weekly orders fresh right up to the day they put all the orders together to ship (Thus Being Friday if that Person SO Desires) or sets his settings up that way "DUH" Personally Pal I think an Apollogy to the Customer Service would be in Order here... and remember to read through all the Instructions Before you sign off on anything in the Future!!!!

Laterzzzz

I don't bid on Wednesday if I haven't won a least two lots earlier. I start bidding on Thursday and scrub the lots pretty well once I win one. I'll bottom feed once I'm over budget. I've had some pleasant surprises from lots I wouldn't have normally gone after. That's the nice thing about CB, you end up trying smokes you wouldn't have bought otherwise. At the end of a successful week, I figure the shipping is the smallest part of my expense. And I don't pay the electric bill until I ready to replenish my tamaledor (humidor I made from a tamale packing case).

all the cigars i get are fine. i usually get my shipment on wed or thur of the following week, in calif. i had a bad batch once that were replace. they were in a closed jar so cbid had no way of nowing they were dry. they apologized and shipped me another batch that had been personally checked. hot and brittle? where do you live that would be so hot at this time of the year? i have left cigars in the trunk of my car for almost a week, in the summer, and they were not dry and brittle. suggest you discuss this with customer service and see if you got a bad batch.

Hey mhollowa, how good does the tamaledor work? What's it made of?
My tamales usually come wrapped in a corn husk.

Rocket Launcher: If you want USPS shipping, my suggestion is that you request it from Customer Service in an email. Making changes of this nature are done manually and must be requested in writing. With that said, you should also know that any Priority Mail package that is over $50 will have insurance charged to the purchaser. This amount is set by the Post Office and increases as the dollar amount purchased increases. The insurance is not optional since CigarBid has no recourse with the Post Office if a package is lost and has no insurance. I'll be looking for an email request from you!

xibbumbero: I described my tamaledor in an earlier thread on cheap humidors. It's a styrofoam packing case Neiman Marcus shipped me 4 doz Christmas tamales, a gift from a friend. Check them out at: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod2150003&parentId=&navCount=0&navAction=jump. I built 4 trays out of 1/8-inch birch and cedar from cannabalized cigar boxes with holes drilled in the bottm of each tray to allow air to circulate. The trays fit one on top of the other inside the packing case. Each tray folds about 14 churchill-size cigars or 20 robustos. For a humidifier I used "wet" oasis (green florist foam)and a plastic food storage container with holes drilled in the top. Works great here in Houston where it's hot and humid during the summer.

HA! This is funny. Each two weeks I recieve fish in a box at my doorstep. The box is made of foam (and it doesn't smell of fish 'cos the fish is frosen/kept cold with ice) and are perfect for small cooler'dors. Will contain up to 50 large cigars. Hmmmmmm.......... maybe next time I should order the large box!!!

If you have an enclosed foam packing container (not the one your cod came in) it can make great, almost free storage for over 200 cigars.
