About a month ago I found a cigar with several beetle holes in it in one of my dors. I isolated and smoked all of the remaining cigars without problems and it is now empty. My question is do I have to worry about eggs in the empty humidor or can I refill it?

always good to worry. stick the box open in the sun. if anything is going to hatch it will. as many of us tell female friends, a little protein never hurt anybody.

Rick, as a woodworker I won't expose damp wood to the sun (good way to end up with a splintered POS). Should I just leave it alone for a few weeks and starve the buggers? BTW, my ex didn't go for the protein diet.

Is there any possibility that the cigars in the infected dor come into contact with cigars in any other dor? If so,put cigars in ziplock bags in freezer for 3 days, then defrost in refer. You can also put infected dor in freezer. After removing, let it warm up then wipe with distilled water, wait 24hrs. and you're good to go. I don't think it's a good idea to put dor in sun.

Butcher, I don't think Rick meant direct sunlight. if you set it out in the garage or somewhere where the temp. is more then 70 degrees for a week or so it will allow any other of the lil bas#@rds to hatch another way would be to freeze your dor' depending on the size of it.. as far as the ex not going for the protein diet my ex didn't care for mine either and thus went searching elseware..I thank god each and every day for that!!! I thought I was Dead Man walking the last 4 yrs of my previous Marrage...

Laterzzzz
Hog

BTW what Type woods do you Butcher?? Projects?

A quick hit with a propane torch should do the trick. But only do this where you store your volatile chemicals.

Set a bug-bomb off in the humi and don't open it for 24 hours.

You guys are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much help! I decided to nuke them. After 20 minutes in the microwave I think I got them all, sounded like popcorn for about 5 minutes. Seriously, I will let the humi sit for a few weeks before refilling. Hog, any wood, any project. The good lord gave us women and wood to mold into things to serve us, thank God trees can't talk!!

my microwave manual says normal cooking time for beetles is 12 seconds on high. eggs 33 seconds on high.
