I picked out an Excalibur 1066 King Arthur for my afterwork smoke yest. It lit fine but soon I noticed the wrapper was cracked. The thing started to expand untill it had completely shed it's wrapper! I ditched it before it went Stephen King on me. I didn't want to see what was about to explode out of it. I don't know why it did this. I've had the box about a year and all the others somked fine. Is it a construction problem? Barry

If the rest of the box is okay, then it probably was a defective roll. Each handmade is a little different from the next. A shame, tho, with some nice age on a good gar like that. Condolensces. You should get some laughs from the ensuing posts, tho. I am looking forward to them, too.

BMW you have just bore witness to the birth of the infamous LWnosewik an insect that uses the wrapper of a quality cigar for its cocoon as it passes through its pupal stage. It is one inch long, transparant, and so light in body weight it can crawl across the stickiest flypaper ever made. What it does is crawl up the cigar over the lips and into the victims nose working its way to the brain and attaching itself to said brain. It is much worse than the earwik which enters through the ear attaches to the brain eats and lays eggs driving its victim totally insane. The LWnosewik after attaching to the brain only allows its victim to smoke lone wolf cigars, any cigars of quality will make its victim violently ill. The only known cure is to send all your quality cigars (sans any lone wolfs) to the person who informs you about the LWnosewik (which is I JonR) as soon as possible! Now you have to say, do I feel lucky today, did I get rid of the cigar in time or do I send JonR all my quality cigars, well do you BMW. JonR

The box of 1066 KA's I've been smoking from has been nothing but perfect so far.The only cigars I've had that were self destucting as I smoked them were a couple of Perdomo Reserve X Rosados.Hey I still smoked them to a nub,the Rosados can be a bit delicate.I would guess a little over humidified but you say you've had the box for a year....Hmmmmmm?

I'm down to my last 3 from a box(merlins) I was given last summer. All have smoked perfect, no problems. One of my favorite cigars.

I have a cure for JonR's LWyroiesek or whatever he called it, and it will only cost you one half of your best cigars, minus any Lone Wolves, Hamilton House or White Owls! This cure involves chanting at the full moon and running around the neighbor hood naked (used to be called streaking) while smoking a Rum & Honey Crook! Any interest in this cure means you really are sick! Charlie

As jjohnson says ,the only one I've had explode is the Perdomo reserve maduro in the tube given to me by Coach, that rat **** (thanks coach). Near the end it split and began to swell. Hey! does anyone have any lone wolfs? JK!

BMW: My guess is that you put your after-work, drive-home smoke the same place you've been storing it. But the weather in Houston's changed over the past week and yesterday was hot for this time of year. And more humid. Most evenings I smoke an hour-long cigar on the screen porch in Southwest Houston. For the last couple of nights I've felt it soak up the moisture in the air as I smoke it. I shifted to half-hour smokes and kicked up the PG in my humidor. Ah, summer...

JonR, if I hit my smokes with a hammer or put them in a bench vise before smoking, will it kill the dreaded LWnosewick? Or, should I get some Lone Wolfs and put them next to infected smokes to see if they drive the poor bastards out? Houston humidity can be a problem. Maybe I'll store my afterwork smoke in my glove compartment during the day.LOL Seriously, all the other smokes in that particular humidor smoke fine and I do have a calibrated digital hygromter and keep things at 68% I think that one cigar was possesed. It was scary the way the thing grew (blew) up. LOL Barry

What does kicked up the PG in my humidor mean? I write down all the abreviations as I find out what they mean. But just when I think I know them all,I see another one.

I'd agree with the defective roll theory. I had a friend over the other day and pulled a couple Acid Liquids from the same box. Half way through the smoke his "blew up" but mine was fine. Haven't had that problem with any others in the box.

It must have been construction problems. I'm 2/3 of the way through another one that was next to the one that blew up in the 'dor. Smoking fine with no complaints. A month later and all readings of humidity / temp. are identical. Go Figure. Barry

I agree, construction is more likely the culprit, not the Houston humidity. I've had Macabi torpedos in the same storage conditions for months. The wrapper on some has peeled away like sheet metal in a tornado. Others smoke well all the way.
