when basketball season ends spotts end for us until football. just personal preference. i have read about the head shots towards barry bonds. this is the kind of thing that has turned me off baseball. umpires and coaches arguing like children. spitting and kicking dirt. nba you get a minute or so if you talk. one fould word = a technical. football reasonably controlled. hockey, a certain mano e mano up to a point. baseball a bunch of overpaid cry babies. any pitcher that trys to kill barry bonds by throwing at his head should be treated the same as that hockey player, mcsorely? and arrested. the minimum should be suspension. for attempted murder or bodily harm. if you think throwing at the head is part of the game, don't bother me, i've seen what happens if the batter doesn't duck in time.

Nothing like a Saturday afternoon televised baseball game to help me get my nap in. Come to think of it, the televised games on Sunday help nap time also.

Baseball's one of the few sporting events where you can still enjoy a cigar although I'm sure that will end soon with the Rob Reiner's of the world!

I agree Rick, my favorite player was Kirby Puckett who had to end his career early after taking a "warning" pitch to the temple, and as a result losing most of his vision in that eye.

I still love baseball but it has definitely diverged from it's original purity.

Rick, you don't know a damn thing about baseball and it is quite apparant in the statements you made "dissing" the National Pasttime! Pitchers do throw at batters to get them off the plate, and not at their heads! There is only one guy in baseball who throws at a batters head and he isn't in the same league that Bonds is in! Bonds plays in National League and Roger Rocket plays in American League! If you think that the NBA is so great-enjoy watching it! But until you know anything about baseball, best to not try and put a spin on something you do not understand! You seem to love the NFL, well, what in the world do they do the quarterbacks in the NFL? A lot of teams try to take them out of the game? This is not a nice act, and it is against the rules yet they hit quarterbacks late and injure them pretty badly! How about the cheap hit Tony Siragussa, of Baltimore, put on Raiders qb in AFC championship game of 2000? Took him out of the game and Baltimore went on to win NFL Championship (Super Bowl)! They bragged about what they did to win the NFL, taking out quarterbacks! All sports have their bad apples I like baseball and football and I do not think you understand either game! There is no social implications involved in sports? There is no Political Correctness, that is in other things, Rick! So you enjoy watching the Lakers win NBA championship and then be welcome to tend to your hummingbirds and backyard while baseball is going on! Charlie

char5353. i was recruited by the american legion local baseball team when i was 16 and played shortstop and i did not let anything through. took a bad hop in the ***** (thats plural) but threw the batter out before my voice changed. letter ed in high scholl. i was and still am 5'1" so i could not go to the majors of the minors or college ball. the games used to take at most an hour and a half. my critique is the three hour 9 inning ball game, the whinney mgrs, hell, didn't you even read my post. didn't i point you to a great site, bob parks and the histoty of bb names. if you think they are not throwing at bond's head, your are as naive in your sports info as you are in your politics. you are still a nice guy.
