This turned up in a sampler pack from c-bid. I don't think it was advertised as part of it, maybe subbed in. Big cigar, maybe 6.5x54? Dark tan, oily wrapper, smooth. The burn was far from perfect and the ash was flaky, but I sure did like the taste and smell of this one. Lots of smoke, medium strength. It got just a bit soft toward the end, but I took off the band and nubbed it, and would happily smoke it again if the price was as right as this one was. Any PI fans out there?

El,I haven't had one yet,but like u say,if the $ is rite,I may,after that review. One I had 2 nite for 1st time,was a Nestor Box pressed Torp,in maduro. I found it quite interesting. I've noticed U say U like a cigar that changes during a smoke. This one did,and I liked it. Nice pepper,and taste. I saw once that this gar had recieved a 90 rating. That was why I bid on a 5pack. U may want 2 try this one,if U haven't yet. X

I believe PIs are one of the best values out there. I like the #4 in colorado claro - mild, great taste/smell. You should be able to grab em for a less than 2.50/stick -- great value. Have some toros, roths and pyramide 1 colorado claros napping. Last week they had a "chief" (I think they called it) in the sampler arena -- it's like 18x70, or something!

I see the "Chiefs" going above retail quite often here. They're HUUUGE. I've always been a Puros Indios fan - seems people either love 'em or hate 'em. I just picked up some PI maduros recently that are really good. You'll find that although PI's come in about 5 or 6 different wrapper shades they're not very far apart. My double-maduros look like another line's EMS. Good though! I've heard the "Genuine" is close in flavor - made by the same people that make PI's.

Had a PI toro especiale (6x50) this weekend. Overall very good...flavor/aroma changed throughout, which is a good quality to me as well. Draw was a little tight but hopefully just that one. Will smoke the other 4 with a few weeks in the humi.

I had 8 PI #4 claro left out of 25 I had for a yr. I tried but just didn't like them. I gave them up to a co-worker that's new and just trying things out. Barry

Claro was the problem, Barry. You might do a complete about face if you try one with that dark oily wrapper.

PI #1 Torps are big and very tasty and can be had for cheap if you look around. I've never had one with an uneven burn. I've got a Chief to smoke and need to be on the course all day I guess. One guy I know who's smoked the Chief recently says its pretty good but his jaw was sore for a week!

PI's are my favorite "affordable" smoke. Not cheap, but certainly reasonable. Funny thing with them is that you either love them or hate them. Very few "in between" votes on this one. Often, while nubbing a PI Toro Especial, I wonder why I bother buying other cigars. And yes, the Genuine is similar but without the depth and complexity of it's bigger brother.
