Mayares & Faux pas

Apparently I made a faux pas by mentioning the name of another bid site and upset slimboli. The use of the other site was not to suggest or advertise the "other" site. It was intended to help some of you "afficianado" cigar smokers maybe remember where you had maybe seen them. Sorry that I havent been here for the many years that it apparently takes to be one of the "group" and be able to rattle off about my home life, etc, etc. I was trying to find out about a cigar, on a cigar forum, hopefully peopled by cigar enthusiasts. But apparently I stepped into someones private backyard where they immediately attack rather then help out.

Thanks for the "help" slimboli.

Fubar69: They allowed you to post this thread didn't they, and they were right in censoring (IGP!) your last thread. And what the hell is "faux pas" is it anything like a "movie pass" LOL JonR

Hmmm, with a name like fubar, we expect a big, sweet-natured lug with a broad sense of humor. It's just common sense and basic courtesy, tho, that you dont go to Cigar Aficiando's forums and suggest everyone subscribe to Smoke Magazine. (I think Slimboli did that once.) Just admit your mistake, apologize, and take your ferocious beating without a whimper and after we will hold you to our loving, hairy bosoms the way you have every right to expect. We are all nice guys here. Except Rick. He's vicious.

I was hoping to try some of those (Fox Paws or Fox Pals? ... I'm not sure which it is), but when I put Fox in the search space, what turned up was e-Chick's picture

eleltea, the "loving, hairy bosom" part does indeed scare the bee jeezez out of me but I think I get the idea. Besides, everyone knows that cigar smokers, at least the cheap cigars, don't have hairy chests for the want of a good, long, white ash. I don't have any problem admitting my mistake, 'cept I didn't see it as advertising or promoting a competing web site. I guess this is just like the ever elusive rating of cigars. What one man or woman finds to be exquisite it is gauranteed that the next person will willing trade for an "el stinko". So if the "perceived" infraction needs a "received" apology then please accept this as the attempt to get next to the "largest, hairiest bosom" amongst you with my sincerest apology. Smoke if you got 'em.

(confidential to FUBAR) ... Foob, if I were you, I'd just tell 'em that if they understand your name, 'nuff said, and if they don't, they just need to learn the meaning ... that's the sort of response that will endear you to the bosoms on this site, hairy and otherwise.

O.K. guys I am properly chastised. Shoot, I am so small that I need a ladder to get back into my wheelchair. And I see that I have done another furry pause as I just looked in my "footlockerador" and they are Miyares. But all seriousness aside, I would appreciate it if anyone comes across these troublemakers if they would send me an email at [email protected].

Rich (still looking over my shoulder for big, hairy bosoms)

Fubar69,I wasn't trying to chastise you,I wassimply pointing out the Mispelling of the cigar.I thought it look a little off but, then when I did a goggle search I found nothing so Ichanged the spelling and found a little info. They were fairly tasty cigars but the ones I had/have a extrexely tight so I gave up on them. They were all over the place for a while but I can't remeber where.Good Luck and pay no attention to Slimboli, nodydy else does...LOL J/K Slim!

jjohnson28, No problem with the correction on the spelling and thanks for the effort. I always use my "draw poker" on all my smokes. Like the advertisement says "why take a chance on a bad draw with an expensive smoke." I even use it on my Fuentes, etc. The only thing is that I play a lot of poker and tend to like the Panatelles(sp) as they aren't a mouth full but they will split if not carefull. To all you "maduro" smokers out there you might want to try the "Fidalgos". Several of my co-workers and I really like them.

Fubar69 ... first of all, you didn't mention any competing website, I just brought it to your attention that it is against the 'General Guidlines' set up by Cigarbid, before you did ...

Second ... it was not to hurt your feelings, just bring it to your attention. some folks don't bother reading the rules of our host.

Third ... I don't like riding folks here, and I am usually careful (these days) not to step on peoples toes (some are very sensitive). Sorry if I offended you in any way ...

Slimboli, maybe I jumped a little too soon. Thanks for the pre-warning regarding "other sites". Now if I just had some pre-warning regarding the "subtle" humor of the rest of the gang....hum, it seems that they don't have "subtle" humor."go for the jugular" seems to be more their style. I LIKE IT!

The guy is not advertising for any other sites! Did you ever hear of fair competition? What business did you ever hear of that didnt ever mention someother business' name? Do you ever hear car companies talk about each other or customers comparing vendors? Its not like he's saying "Hi, everyone, lets all go to ______ because they have a better deal!"!!!!!!! Can you tell the difference between advertising and promotion compated to a simple question of where the guy can find a few cigars if he can find em here? Plenty of times in my life, I have gone into a store and them not carry a product that I was looking for. Then right after they told me that they didnt have it, they told me which other vendor i could go to to get it. So in simple terms, you are wrong.

I don't know whether you realize this or not ... but mentioning competing sites at this formum is not only against the guidelines set up by our host, but is in extremely bad taste. It is simply not allowed here, and if it happens, those names or URL's are frequently XXX'ed out by Gonz.

This is their store, and we must abide by their rules. I personally can't see any problem with that ... as their are plenty of BB's on the web that do not sell products that you can exchange info untill your heart's content.

The webmaster is extremely busy, and doesn't have time to check every post. He has personally told me (or maybe it was Keith Meier) that he appreciated those here who keep things in line with their standards ... just because he doesn't have the time to do it.

Slimboli, I double posted because the CB website just temporarily went down and it double posted on its own. Maybe you could find something else to do with your time rather than sitting where ever you are and criticizing people on a cigar forum. jeez....

You were the one who came in here spouting off about something you had no clue about ...

My problem is with someone who doesnt even work for the company, rattling their mouth off like you have some sort of authority or something. Please... In that other post you were saying how you showed restraint by not ripping that guy a new a**. Gee... you think you may have some insecurity complex or something? Try finding something better to do like wash your car or maybe doing laundry or something. All you do is look at posts and criticize people. You said yourself that you had so show restraint and not rip a guy because he posted comething about cuban cigars. Why dont you let the people who run the site do the policing and not get involved in everyones posts. I posted to help defend the guy a little. You have to comeback and get your 2 cents in. Seriously, get a job or something.

Show your age ... or maybe you are. Read my post a little closer, and maybe you will understand.

Worried about my policing this site? I've been here for a couple of years now ... and I feel like I know the folks who run this site quite well, and I consider them friends of mine. As I said before, they have personally told me that they appreciate someone who 'keeps an eye out' now and then, because they are sometime too busy to monitor all the posts. Besides, who made you 'defender' of the underdog? Everyone here is adult enough to speak for themselves if they feel thay have been wrongly confronted on an issue. The person who wrote the original post handled it quite well ... and in a mature manner. He got the message ...

Sometimes it takes a 'thick skin' to get involved in internet BB's. Nothing I posted here was said in malice ... so find someone else to stage your attacks on.

So back to the origin of the thread.

Fubar, Miyares were made in Little Havana by a close friend of Gael's (La Luna.)

I believe they have halted production but I would check with La Luna. (Competition? I don't know, just trying to help out.)

Squattro, thanks for the info. I will try there. Hey guys and gals, I didn't mean to start a Hatfield and McCoys thing here. I appreciate the support Daveyg2 but now that the ground rules, as perceived by the home team, have been "explained" to me I will try to play by them. We all have different views on many issues and at this point I don't want to promote any raw nerves amongst the participants here at the "Ranch". As someone once said "Can't we all just get along" Ahhh..to heck with it I am going to go smoke one of these green Fuentes and have some Jack Daniels. Live long and Prosper 69

Echick...if I may be so bold..hehe..My rule would be that you must post photos of the "campfire" meetings. Well on second thought you would be allowed to use some discretion as you might want to delete the ones of eleltea as there might be small children present and the mere sight of eleltea's big, hairy bosom might cause them psychological damage. (I am still shivering thinking about it)...69
