what is the opinion of this one? I read some favorable opinions and then bid on them at 13 for a box and now i am double thinking that the opinions were in jest. i realize that we all have our own taste and what is one mans poison is anothers pleasure, but i am interested in what gives on these babies.

There's often a bunch of joking and sarcasm around here (I dish a little myself) and I know it's hard to gather from words on a screen, but when it comes to these cigars, trust me, people are serious. I've never personally had one, but from what I've read here (or what I think I've read here!) this is one I'm definitely going to skip.

Somebody was giving a positive review of these over on the CA bulletin board and a couple of people agreed, so don't give up hope. I have avoided them based on what I have read in the past here.

Here's my opinion of them. Take it with a grain of salt. I was given one and smoked it. The draw was terrible, and the taste! Ugh! It was like smoking straw. I couldn't understand it, when it was resting it smelled great, but the taste was God awful. My old tobocconist(I moved)had an open bar event and Lone Wolf was one of the featured cigars. It was the robusto instead of the churchill that I described above. Everyone else had theirs going and nobody said a word so I figured that it HAD to be different. I lit it and it was the same. I was in a room with a bunch of people that saw the Emperor's new clothes. I started heckling my friend about it and a lady and her beau butted in and commented(this is an actual quote too!)"Don't you know who owns this company?", and "This is the best cigar I ever had!" Like Belushi and Norris know cigars? They know how to act, but they should've stuck to it. I think this is their version of some twisted practical joke on the cigar boom, and people are still buying it. CA STILL rates it highly. What do I know though, try one and post your own opinion. I'd love to hear it.

I am not defending Belushi for the God awful product called Lone Wolf, but he smokes as many as 10 cigars a day and I believe he knows cigars! I also believe he had nothing to do with this cigar other than try to promote the damn thing! It is a true monument to failed marketing and failed quality! Charlie

gotta admit I've never tried a LW and have no opinion to offer, other than to say, what does the opinion of others matter ?? It's a good idea to try them before investing too much in them, but hey ... as I said recently on another thread, my favorite cigar is one that some people describe as the worst they've ever smoked while one of the most disgusting cigars I've ever lit is in exceptionally high demand and has ratings that are off the charts ... take advantage of the offer above and adopt a couple of wolves, give them a warm, moist home for a while and set them on fire ... after that, write and tell us of your experience ... think of it this way ... if it turns out you like 'em, you'll have a lot less competition when you bid ... lol ...

oh, btw ... DrMaddVibe, I'm not sure which of Chuck Norris' or Jim Belushi's films or tv shows that you've been watching when you say (above) that they can act ... I, on the other hand, think that while Belushi is ok at best in some parts, Chuck is the only actor I've ever seen who has become progressively worse as the years have passed, and has now reached the point where one of the cigar store indians could be given his roles and perform as well as Chuck does ... for the life of me, I simply cannot imagine who on earth watches "Walker, Texas Ranger" or why ...

LOL!!! :oD --- I have not had one either, but based on this and the dozens of other threads and comments, I think I will pass. There are far too many CONFIRMED quality cigars at fair prices out there to bother with "BOOM BANDIT" bands.

I stated that he could "act" because of his longevity in his business. Somebody has to be watching. Jim on the other hand has a good TV show, and his short with his brother John as ice cream soda jerks is one of the funniest things I've seen this side of "Who's On First".

I have heard that Belushi smokes 10 cigars a day.
I have also heard that not one of the ten is a Lone Wolf.

Doc, I agree that Jim is ok and I've liked him in a couple of things ... you're right about Chuck and his longevity, but I truly don't understand it ... several years ago, I stumbled across a remote location up in the Rockies where a "shoot" for a "Walker" episode was being done ... it was the damndest traveling circus I've ever seen ... the cost of taking that whole bunch on the road had to be astronomical ... I watched the episode and was dumbstruck to see how little there was to see, given the enormous expense involved ... but most of all, it was Chuck's wooden behavior that struck me ... I hadn't seen him in several years and could not believe how stiff and expressionless he was ... you're sure right that someone must be watching him, because the money was being spent with both hands to make the show, but my question will forever remain unanswered .... why?

Well it looks like most here haven't tried them. I personally like them. Granted I have had better but it is a good smoke for yard work. I like to smoke a cigar while mowing the lawn which here in Hawaii is a year round task. So keep up the non bidding on these. That way I can get them for cheap. They are also good for givaway smokes.

If you want great smoke for a good price, I would recommend BAYAMO Superiores! --- One of the best low priced smokes around.

Belushi and Norris not longer are involved with this POS ... they knew when to get out. It is discontinued, and no longer is being made.

The company started in 1996, and it started out as a conversation in a backyard ... business partners taking a break from a project, enjoying a smooth premium Dominican cigar. An idea began to form. What if a group of investors established a company to create private label premium cigars? Build a reputation as a cigar company and then establish cigar lounges across the nation, a place where the aficionado could sit back and enjoy a cigar like they do in their own backyard. Could it be done? Chuck Norris, international film and television icon, thought it could. It was his backyard ...

The first course of action was to approach James Belushi and a group of investors who had recently opened a chain of retail cigar lounges in California. Both Mr. Norris and Mr. Belushi had a mutual respect for one another in the entertainment industry and were excited to learn they also shared a passion for cigars. It was a natural pairing. In January 1997 operations merged and Lone Wolf became a retail tobacconist.

Michael Dunne, was the Lone Wolf VP of Operations, and basically, it was his company and his cigars.

All of the cigars were made in the Dominican republic, but each brand was made by a different manufacturer. Lobo Rojo was made in the La Aurora factory. The Signature Select was made in the MATASA factory, where they make Fonseca and Romeo y Julieta. The Vintage Series was made by the Palmarejo factory.

Simply cut off a branch of a tree and smoke it instead of a Lone Wolf!
