We have had rain in the San Antonio area this whole month. We are 1 inch away from a record. Some small towns got 36,22,28 inches so far. All the lakes are over filled and the rivers are over their banks.
I haven't been able to go outside and smoke since Saturday. I just walked the dog in sunshine with a 1/2 full pipe.(I knew my smallest cigar would last too long) It started raining in 10 min. The dog wouldn't get off the sidewalk. Too wet on the ground. There is a titty bar down the street with FREE steak and potatoes. I guess thats my only option.
Those of you fellow Texans wondering about the mosquitoes... Yup they are from here. Within 5 mins you get covered with em if you try to lite one up between the rainstorms.

Rain rain go away....

In southwest Houston, I've had just under 8 inches in the backyard rain guage. Hard to keep your matches dry in this weather...glub, glub.

NW Houston, bright, sunny, and hotter than hell right now 8-)...The rainy days are for sitting on the back porch (screened of course) with a nice smoke, a fine scotch, and a good book..

Jazzman,Across 410 from North Star Mall. In the housing area at the end of McCollough outside the loop. NW is just down the street LOL.

Theres 3 in of water on the ground my porch has 2in in it. Theres no where for the new rain to go. I grabbed a smoke and a tittie at the topless place. The city council wants to shut them down so I better use em while I can.

Hello from another Houstonian, out by bullwinkle.
Smokes are dry and the yard is wet and full of skeeters. My inlaws on the Guadalupe in Seguin flooded pretty bad, 2nd time now ('98). At least this time they had a little warning and hauled a$$. Barry

I used to live out Nacogdoches Rd. in northwest S.A. back in '79/'81. Also lived in Universal City, Shertz, Lake Mcqueeny, and Sequin. When I go back to visit I get lost 'cause I don't recognize a thing. LOL Barry

Bob the fireman, I drive by that station at least 3 times a week. Its on the way to the kids daycare, Candycane. Sounds good I will sometime. How many folks stop there to ask for directions. LOL

Barry the traveler,I've been in SA for 21 yrs. You are correct. Soon the space between Austin and SA will be one long city. You settled in Houston? I only here bad things about it. Iv'e only been there twice. One time I saw a traffic jam that lasted hours, peoples cars were breaking down it was so bad.(many years ago)Oh ya, another time a group of us went to about 4 tittie bars in Houston. That was a night I can't remember!

Houston has its ups and downs...The nite life around here pretty well sucks IMO, although every now and then, there will be a good comedy show, or a decent concert..Houston does have some really good restaraunts though, so that partially makes up for it..The street racing scene was huge in and around Houston from 98 until present, though I'm sad to say that HPD/Sheriffs seem to have effectively shut it down for now...As for cigar shops, the only ones IMO that are worth mentioning are the Smoke Inn, the Briar Shoppe, and Tobbaco Habana....Just my 2cents

GYO, I originally moved to Tomball from S.A. back when Tomball was a small town 30 miles away from Houston. Now you can't escape Houston without going at least 50 miles out. I don't mess with the traffic. I'm lucky and live 5 miles from work. It's been my experience that it's just about the same every where now. Barry

Mr. Mean, Compaq is just up the street but I don't work there, as a matter of fact a lot of people don't work there (they like to hire part time and lay people off). I'm a printer by trade and work off of the Old Hempstead Hwy. Barry

Cool MM, @ Fairbanks or Blalock, depending which side of the street you're on. How long since you been down south? Things change fast, especially on this side of town and southeast. Barry

bullwinkle, have you ever looked at Spec's Liquor Warehouse's humidor (downtown on Smith)? Huge selection, best prices in town. Whenever I'm in The Big Onion, I always make a stop here. An added advantage is that you can buy any alcoholic beverage on the planet here to accompany your cigars.

I have been to 2 of them. Thanks for telling me. I didn't know they were regular events. Just thought I got lucky. I have 2 cool lighters from Macanudo that they gave me. The ones I went to, you could just grab the cigar and leave. So, I sent the wife in also. Good info for other SA folks also. The wife and kids can go to the next door bookstore or the ice cream shop while you are talking to the vendors.
Thanks Jazzman.
