Cigar bleeding?

OK, here's a first (for me, at least). Just went out to have a pre-bedtime smoke. Lit up a Sportsman's Reserve Robusto (not a bad cigar for the price, BTW). I'm about halfway through and I catch the sight of a little crimson on my index fingernail. Wiped my lip because I thought it might be bleeding. Negative. Then I happened to take a gander at the punch in the cap I'd been puffing through and noticed a red ooze coming from the hole. Not one to easily alarm, I finished the gar and came in to post this.

Is this a normal occurence? Did I just have some kind of spiritual experience or what? I might understand the latter if I'd had an Opus X in hand, but a Sportsman?

Thoughts? Answers? Heavenly guidance?

One big-ass scary beetle was too close to the cap when you punched it. Either that, or you smoked a torcedors finger that got put into the bundle by mistake.

Ok, here's my thoery: I noticed you said specifically that you used a punch. Many afficianados eschew the punch because oils and tars have a tendency to build up at the cap. This can give a bitter taste. I think you have exerienced this exact phenomonon. How did it taste? Try a cutter on your next one and see what happens. I use a punch too. It is great for certain cigars, not so for others.

Heavenly guidance? NO

anyone that would continue smoking blood should seek some professional help, unless you sleep during the daylight and fly around at night.

Red ooze ?That sounds bad. Were you doing a Bill Clinton impersonation at the wrong time of the month? Or maybe you know how Jed Clampett felt..."Let me tell ya a little story"..."Up from the cigar come a bubbling ooze."

For the record, I'd like to believe the "tars and oil buildup theory". The cigar came straight from the cello wrap and the others (I've since placed in one of my tupperdors) show no signs of the beetles (yeah, yeah, yeah!).

The vampire theory might carry some weight. I believe their was a full moon the other night. As for the tam... theory, I'm sure we've all consumed the "juice" accidently at some time or another, but never on purpose (although, I'm sure it's on somebody's list of fetishes somewhere).

If it was, in fact, a "finger" style, I want my money back. I paid for a double corona (sans the stigmata).

In any event, I'll try another one of these in a couple months and report back. Perhaps, we've all just missed a nuance here.

Where is it said, if you were told what the worse thing was you've ever eaten, you would lose your mind.

LOL- I don't even want to think about all the hot dogs I've consumed in this lifetime. Enough to make me stark, raving "ratty", I'm sure.

Some might argue that it's a prequisite to enjoying a Sportsman's Reserve, Utz. Of course, there is always a risk involved.

Aaack! I just got my order of Sportsman Reserves yesterday. Should I separate them from the others in the humi?? I wouldn't want my other gars to start hemmoraging. Maybe I should apply leaches to them or some other form of bloodletting. Man, this could be serious!
