I'll be out of the county soon and wondered if anyone
could recommend Cuban cigars a little on the milder side. On vacation I prefer to smoke 2-3 cigars a day/night and some of the Cubans I've had in the past were a little to much to have that often.
Thanx in advance!

whatcounty do you live in and what county are you going to. it is difficult to get cuban cigars in la county, but orange county, where the rich people live, they start their fireplaces with a
monte A.

put aside my snotty answer.

what country are you going to for your vacation or business

We're going on a cruise, Jamaica & Grand Cayman are the main ports of call.
I "occasionally" can get my hands on some Cubans locally, but I'm at the mercy of someone else's choice.
I get them when my Dot-Com buddy needs help making his
Ferrari payment...

Clyde, why waste the money on a mild Cuban? Not trying to be a wise ass or anything, but there are some very good mild to medium Dominican cigars! Charlie

Be careful where you buy your Cubans. An overwhelming majority of the Cuban cigars sold in the Caribbean islands are counterfeit. To be safe, buy only at La Casa del Habano shops. These are the Cuban government shops. You won't pick up a good deal, but the cigars that you pick up will be the real deal.

Clyde- just had to add to this post.. no answer to your question but just a comment on Grand Cayman Island. Dont know your pit stop plans on Cayman but if you are a diver or snorkler a got a great "secret"
reef just north of seven mile beach off the "cemetary". Awesome coral-fish just a swim off the beach. Also try the "swim with the stingrays" cruise off the north end. I LOVE the Cayman Islands. Please let me know what you think after your return..

and when the ship has anchored and you look over the side, you can see the bottom about 30 feet down. beautiful place and very nice people.

open a numbered account in case you need to hide a big hit.

Thanks for the tips. It's the forbidden fruit aspect of smoking cubans, even if they're a little milder.
I'm really shooting for a medium body, but I'm told a medium body cuban is a full body Dominican.
I'll definitally look for the government shop to make my purchases.
I spent a week in Aruba a couple of years ago. The waters are beautiful for snorkeling. Aruba is like the New Mexico desert(where I'm from now)inland.
Is Grand Cayman like that of more tropical like St. Thomas?

I just got back yesterday from a cruise that stopped in grand cayman. I went to "La Casa" and found the prices high and mold on the montecristo's in one display case. One look at that and I was out of there. On a positive note, I also went to "havana house" which is near the hard rock cafe and although they had a small selection I was happy with the experience. The guy I delt with was named James and was very friendly and spent plenty of time with me. As far as I could tell everything I saw was legit, but I guess theres no way to know for sure. He even asked me to e-mail him when I got home to make sure I got the smokes through. Anyways, give him a shot. His prices are better and he's a great guy to deal with. Be careful though, there are a lot of other little shops you can buy smokes in, but "la casa" and "havana house" seem to be the only reputable stores in the main town. At least thats what I came up with after doing research on some message boards. I stuck with "havana house" after the moldy situation at "la casa". Have fun!

Clyde, there is a really nice shop, I cannot remember the name of it right now, but I'll post it later tonite, about 20ft from the landing for the cruise ship taxis....They are certified Habanos dealers, and they have a box of Uppmans in their from the late 40s, early 50s (cant remember which), still sealed, that was autographed by Fidel 8-) I think the going rate was 40000USD...As for their prices on normal cigars, I paid just around $100 for 2 boxes of RyJ coronitas, if that gives you any help...

Fonsecas, Hoyo De Monterrey Epicures, Partagas Shorts (medium bodied and inexpensive) are habanos that are relatively mild to medium bodied
