Are you gonna go get some King Salmon from the Muckleshoots down under the 1st Ave S. bridge? They have a "smokin" deal for $2 a pound! Perhaps I will tip them with a cbid cigar if they will fillet it for me :)

Hmmmm..That sounds like a good deal!

Whole fish I assume? I actually like the farmed stuff these days. We get the Atlantic salmon from COSTCO and it is excellent. I also buy that fresh WILD salmon that Thriftway sells in their fishmarkets sometimes.

Living up here in North Seattle (Edmonds), it takes an act of god to get me down to the market anymore. The parking and all that is just too much of a pain in the butt....I know I know....I'm a whimp! LOL!!

So let me see if I got this straight. You guys live in Washington State and you buy your salmon at the supermerket? Goose yes,I'd have to say you are a whimp! LOL

I haven't been up your way for oh about 6 yrs or better. The last time a buddy and I spent a week near Neha Bay,camped out at some fish camp around the 4th of July.Caught limits of Salmon,Ling Cod and other assorted Rockfish every day, hell I even caught an Octopus with about an 8-10 ft wing(?) span. That fugger was a hoot trying to keep it stuffed in an Ice chest until we got back to camp and carved it up.We didn't catch any Kings just Silvers but that is still the tastiest Salmon I've ever had.

PS you guys need to get out more! LOL

Hee hee..... Actually all of our local supermarkets sell fresh "local" salmon brought in right off the local boats. We have it available here pretty much year round. Problem is, a lot of it is pretty spendy. I have found that the fresh farmed Atlantic salmon is just as tasty and we can get that from COSTCO for half the price of the local stuff.

As for getting out more...well, if you saw my work schedule and the traffic you'd need to deal with to get downtown and back on most days, I think you would vote for the COSTCO salmon from across the street! LOL!

My personal observation is that the traffic in and around downtown Seattle is every bit as bad as LA ... and the person who designed the traffic light system there should be sentenced to an eternity of having to drive in the downtown area ... is it just me or is EVERY traffic light only a few dozen feet away from the last and the next? ... I swear, even though I was one of fewer than 10 or 12 cars waiting at some lights, I had to sit through 3 or 4 cycles of the light to become one of th 10 or 12 cars who filled the next block, waiting through 3 or 4 cycles of that light in order to become one of 10 or 12 waiting at the next ..... well, you see what I mean, but it's all too true, at least on the streets I've been on there.

Hell yes, Goose ... no Pike's Market for this kid ... see ya' at Costco

jjohnson28...You are right about the "great" fishing at Neah Bay. BUT, as too the local fishing, I have fished here locally, Tacoma and Seattle area, for 40 years. And it has been getting really bad, ie. go out and not catch a thing more often then not. And all the while smoking a great Arturo Fuentes(keeping on topic) which made the day still better then the best day in the office.

Besides, I have never been "skunked" at Safeway...69

Steve,

Man! Do I ever agree with you about the lights! Infact all the traffic lights in this town need to be COORDINATED! We use HWY 99 a lot since we live just down from it and use it to the Lynnwood Trader Joes...Talk about a JOKE! You end up stopping at every fricking intersection and half of those intersections don't even have waiting traffic on the intersecting road!!

Downtown is the worst though. INSANE!

Fubar, I had heard that the local fishing had been getting worse and worse over the last few years. Most likely pollution in the Pudget Sound....SHEESH! This is getting depressing! I think I need to head to the deck and smoke something good! LOL!!

Not yet, but there are some dog rockets on there that taste like rotting salmon! LOL!

Seriously, get a COSTCO membership and buy some of the fresh farmed Atlantic salmon! Take it from a Washingtonian, it is EXCELLENT stuff!

WOW!

Perhaps we should get together sometime for a herf? Is there any cigar smoking spots around us?

I know there are some in the city but what about Edmonds? Goldies?

Hmmmmm. I thin we should try and organize a Seattle Herf event for NW based CBID forumites!

Sound like a plan?

The only place that I know of is here in Tacoma. It is an Indian smoke shop/tavern/cigar den. They have a separate shop with a walkin area with the walls lined with humidors and then an area for smoking with a bar. It isn't real big, maybe seating for a dozen people but at least you don't have some old fart or fartess making a big deal about the smoke.

But if you find a place up north then "bring it on"...69

I will make some calls. I know the Tinderbox in Old Bellevue has a seating area that you can smoke in but it is a coffee bar only, no booze.

I am thinking that Goldies down by the Edmonds ferry dock might be a possibility. I will give them a ring a little later and see if you can smoke cigars in there.

Nothing in Edmonds....

Well, depending on how many here are game for a get together we can do Ruth's Chris or Ray's Boat House in Seattle. Both have cigar bars as well as humidors on the premises.

Anyone interested, email me [email protected]

Remove the underscore from that address before sending. If we can get 5-10 people, we can reserve a table or a private dining area on a Saturday night.

Goose & Foob ... MrsS and I get up your way at least once a year ... Ray's Boat House is one of our favorite spots ... when we plan our little post-Christmas trip to the great northwest, I'll let you guys know and maybe we can get together at Ray's for dinner, drinks and smokes

IMNSHO, Seattle is one of the best 5 restaurant cities in the US and Ray's stands out among Seattle restaruants ... I first learned about it 3 or 4 years ago on the Web ... read a survey done IN Seattle in which people were asked to name the restaurant they thought it would be best to take out of town company to ... got directions from a Yahoo map and drove on out there ... we've been back several times and each time it's been just great. Took our oldest son out there just before he moved to the east coast ... we were up in the NW playin' tourist, he came through on business ... his opinion is as high as ours ...

I've been going there for years!

Don't get out there as much these days, but I have many a fond memory of great food, great times and great cigars shared with some of my work buddies from jobs long past!

I really would enjoy another outing to Ray's with the focus on cigars and fine spirits after a a great surf and turf meal!

Emmmmmm! :o)

Ray's is not a problem for me. I haven't been there for many years and then it was to go out fishing. So if you decide to have one let me know...69
