I see that there are several brands with candela (green) wrappers on them. A friend recently gave me an AF 8-5-8-candela. It was pretty tasty. I was wondering if anyone has tried other brands with the candela wrappers? These also seemed to be pretty mild compared with most Fuentes I have smoked...69

I have tried a few...candela wrappers are the mildest wrapper used. Some are pretty bland and almost flavorless. Keep a few in the humidor for a different smoke occasionally.

With the green color they make a great smoke to give out to someone not used to smoking cigars... they are always kind of wary of the cigar until they light up and see just how mild they are.

Got an Iguana resting in the humidor that is supposed to be slightly sweet... some day I will feel like giving it a try.

that's right, iguanas are a little sweet and remind me somewhat of chicken...

I've only smoked a couple candelas myself and the last one was last year at the LOL Herf in Springfield.
JCrimmins was passin' out some ISOM candelas that were pretty damn tasty(I forget thew name! I have a few now but I always tend to pick something else. I also aquired a couple 5 pks of JR Ultimates 5cigars 5 different wrappers,I'm going to sit down one day/week and smoke all 5 just to experience the same basic smoke in 5 different wrappers.Should/could be interesting....Could also make me sick...LOL

jjohnson28, I've smoked 4 of the cigars from that same JR Ult sampler, only the candela remains. First time I had the Ults, and I wasn't too impressed with them, seemed underfilled. I'd be curious to see how you like them when you're done smoking them.

I have only smoked one candela, and I got sick that night. Now, that could have been what I was drinking, but I have talked with people who have had the same experience. Do any of you have experience with these making you feel ill?

Two words can discribe my opinion of Candelas "DOG ROCKETS". The few times I had one, ugh! Flavourless except for a wiered taste and aroma. Kinda like if you had a real dog rocket I guess. Hope I didn't disuade anyone on the "green loogies". Take a chance, you only live once.

I prefer full bodied cigars, so I have smoked very few. The Candela wrapper IMHO are nasty.. Taste like fresh grass (yes, I have tasted grass) I believe it was bluegrass not the hemp relative for all you wisecrackers.. :!

I have smoked the JR Ultimate Candelas and they are the same mix as the regular Ultimates which gives them a nice medium-full body even with the candela wrapper.
I found it a very tasty gar and will probably buy some in an Ultimate buy I am doing with some friends on several other Ultimates we are getting.
Someone mentioned under filled Ultimates, could they have been somewhat wet when you opened them?
My experiance with these is they feel like that when a bit overhumidified.
